Okay, I wasn't sure how else to word this question, but when is your forum usually the busiest? Like, what times of the day is it usually the most active?
During the summer, when I've ran forums in the past, the site seemed to pick up activity right after lunch, we did get posters in the early hours of the morning sometimes.
During the school year or winter months, there seemed to be more activity in the afternoon and evenings.
It is still that way today, basically. But my forum hasn't seen the light of day during the winter yet, so who knows what the statistics will be this year.
FP's best activity normally comes in the evening time, anywhere around 7 and 11pm. Ideal really, as that's the time I can kick back, relax and enjoy posting around the board 🙂
Interestingly though, the site's highest traffic comes between 1pm and 6pm
Seasonally, can get very quiet around Christmas time and public holidays. For example this past July 4th our traffic fell 50%.
Don't forums tend to slow down during the school year, though? Because of younger members being in school and older members working? Assuming, of course, that nobody sneaks on during their Study Halls or whatever...
That seems to be me as well at the moment. PlayTime Central is either busy when I'm in bed, or when I'm not home at all. Which gets me loads to deal with when I return or wake up, but I like that, though.
As your site grows, eventually your userbase will grow across different time zones. Here at FP we have a large mix of users from all different time zones across the globe which means the site is active 24 hours a day (eg: There's always someone logged into the site at any given time). It's taken over 2 years to reach this status and we still get some times particularly quieter than others.
Don't forums tend to slow down during the school year, though?
I've not really noticed that to be honest. If anything FP slows down during school holidays, as people go on Holiday with their families etc. Granted many people get homework (our packages team seem to get more homework than everyone else) but it doesn't really damage activity. 🙂
