What month is your quiet time, all forums always have at least one month that is quieter then the rest, what is yours and what is the reason for it?

Personally as ours is a football (soccer forum) I am expecting it to be quiet during the off season (June-July)

Can't say that I know, it's been steay all through and since the members are all around the world it's hard to say that there will be any specific month that offers any amount of lower activity.

The weekends can drop off some but we all have lives and most of the members post before and at work.

I find if we have not got a game Saturday is very quiet. Yet we still manage to hit 200 posts a day

I know we're fairly quiet during the fall and winter with school going on. Sometimes it picks up during the spring/summer months, but if it does that's the only time it picks up, really.

More than fast or slow months we get definite changes in posting patterns. We are about to begin moving into one of two "great shifts" that happen on my forum every single year. Most of the year, weekends are cnsiderably busier than weekdays and posts happen more or less evenly all day with a low in the wee hours of night. during weekdays, a slow late night, slow morning, gradually picking up through afternoon till a suddenly quickly picking up around 4 PM and surging up into an evening frenzy that peaks around 8:30 PM or maybe 9 and then dies down to almost nothing after midnight. This happens pretty much without fail.

Beginning in late May the posting differences between the weekends and weekdays start to disappear. It is a bit volatile for a few weeks but by late June, every day is pretty much the same and is generally busier, a lot like a weekend day was, but not quite as busy. This continues through July and most of August. Starting around the end of August and getting done in mid September it changes back to the weekend/weekday patterns.

Holiday time--mid/late December and into the start of January--activity also surges and every day is pretty busy.

I always seem to get more things to reply to during the evening hours during the average day than during the morning or midmorning... I think that's because a lot of us are in bed by night time. The only one who's on the same time I am at night is my co-administrator, as he's about 5-10 hours ahead of me. Very rarely do I see him on during the daytime my time.

My business forum is always quieter during the summer months. When people are on holidays and the weather is good, they are less inclined to post and participate in business discussions.

I think that's when we're all inclined to be more active is when the weather is to crappy to go anywhere or you can't even so much as spend time outdoors... so that actually makes sense.

That's interesting. Summers and holidays are my busy times.

On weekdays I also get a brief "mini rush" in the mid morning.

Currently it's 2:30 am here and my site is in its dead zone. That's actually why I have time to swing by here. XD

The summer months were always the slowest for me. During the winter time, there isn't that much to do, so people are on the internet more. During the summer, people are outside more. Can't say I blame anyone for that.

Seems like most of our members are in the UK or american early birds so it can be quiet around 7pm to 3am my time (pacific -8)

My forums genrte is a geneal so i say around chrismas December

I suppose a lot of it can depend on timezones as well, though... We do get some busy times during the summer, but it's not terribly busy. Actually, I think at the rate we're going it's pretty much the same all year around for the moment... Right now it's 4:30 PM Central Time and it's not exactly busy on CT either, so I actually have time to swing by a few places myself.

Many of the members on our business forum either have their own business or are planning on starting one. Most of the discussions are in some way related to work, whereas the posts on your forum are more recreational. That would probably explain why mine is busier during work time and yours is busier during the holiday periods. It is interesting and I honestly hadn't actually looked at it that way before.

So really, your busy/slow periods can also depend on the niche of your forum as well? That is interesting and that actually makes sense too. Because I for one wouldn't want to be screwing off on a general discussion forum when I have homework, so naturally I would wait until I had time off from school, which would equal more time to post and be active. So that really makes sense and is interesting.
