I think it might be the loss of relationship. We won't have anything new from that person on screen...well, except for the cases where there was pre-filmed footage before death. Now they have to go over some of that and add it into the scripts somehow to make it work. Luke Perry was on the show Riverdale so I'm wondering how they'll work in his death? Back in the 60s on a tv show they would just put in a new actor! LOL
I guess people need to know - but really it's just not heart-breaking. However, I do admire people who have died - like say, when Tom Petty died etc.. I suppose I might be moved to emotion - if I thought that person was a hero - in some social justice sense, but Tom didn't cut the bill, lol.
tend to feel very sad and upset for your own family then others. Like if an famous person dies, I say ohh what an shame he was an very good actor and nothing more
It always boggles my mind when people cry like babies over celebrities - like JFK, Princess Diana, whoever. Well, lots of people cried at Kim Ill Sung's funeral - but they were so brainwashed!
OK, well, I could see why people would be upset at a extreme tragedy involving a pop singer - like say when Buddy Holly, Richie Valens died etc..
If they had significant impact on my life I am sad about it but if its musicians or actors. For me Malcolm Young and Rik Mayall deaths did hit me as big fans of them because their work impacted my life from when I was little to now.
I don't particularly care most of the time unless they have directly influenced me in a sense or have done something that I appreciate so much to the community or society. Not particularly a "celebrity" example but a recent example in a fandom: Take Dogbomb for example, never spoke to him or anything but he was very well respected in the furry community, as well as contributing so much to ALS research... (he committed suicide)
Another example is the story of how/why Jon Lee, original drummer for Feeder, committed suicide by hanging himself with a chain... 20 minutes after he made a final phone call to his longtime friend and Feeder's lead singer/guitarist Grant Nicholas, and Grant refused to take the call (because they weren't on the best of terms at the time)... yep... I'm legitimately crying typing this out... and yet I was four months old when he commited suicide - yet he was such a talented person
It depends on who they are. I do feel sad, and if they recently passed I would listen or watch their work to honor them. Back when MJ died, I played Moonwalker on the Genesis and uploaded my gameplay footage to honor him. After Delores O'Riordan passed, I listened to some music from The Cranberries.
I don't really care if a Celebrity dies. I mean, they're not somebody who's been close to me like my Family or Friends. Besides, if people get extremely upset over the death of a Celebrity then I think those people need to understand that everyone dies. It's a fact of Life.
