I am going to start creating my social network during the next six months before the six months I will be studding hard on php, html and css (and other computing skills)
Anyway:

How long do you think it would take to build the social network?
Because Im currently in Yr10 and don’t want to launch it until im officially out of school so I have lots of time to build the company and make it a business its going to be unique I have some Awesome ideas in plan but the sooner I wait another site may take these ideas
Looking forward to hearing what yous would do to save these ideas
Spudster 😀

How good are you at coding is the question.

Whether or not you are fluent in every programming languages there is, a good well-prepared, solid-based social network should at least take a year if you are by yourself.

You must make it literally flawless. People aren't going to want to use it unless you have something that's different and better than Facebook, Twitter, etc..

Before you release it, you will also want a good core team of support, advertisers, etc..and you need people who know what they are doing, and do it right.

Just my 2 cents. ^^ Good luck.

Its nothing todo with myne I use to run A Fairly active one but you see facebook all over the news But No National News about forums

Since Facebook has 500M members, forums don't have over 50M. It's quite logical as to why forums aren't on the news, if you need an aswer to that, don't make me facepalm.

One more question i need the answer to Why doesent the average person goto forums

Some people don't know about them.

Personally, there are already too many social networking sites out there, and it seems as though new ones are popping up all the time. You would seriously need to offer something that sites like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter don't already have. As for why the average person doesn't join forums, well, it could be that perhaps they don't find them stimulating enough, and this is mostly where a social network site would come in. Others, as someone has rightly stated, probably don't even know what a forum is or how it works. There could be all kinds of answers to that question, and your guess is as good as any of ours.

Thanks 😀 and i do have a great idea but if i said it someone might take my idea i think it might be Big<br /><br />-- 08 Sep 2011, 19:54 --<br /><br />Thanks 😀 and i do have a great idea but if i said it someone might take my idea i think it might be Big

That's because Facebook is something everyone uses (almost). Forums aren't for everyone, and they aren't even close to dying.

You are going to need a team of coders, Facebook was not coded by one person. Have you got a team?

Have you got completely unique and amazing ideas that will throw Facebook out of the window?

Have you got loads of money ready spend on this project? ( I can't imagine a social network on a .tk domain running on a 200mb free hosting package with no staff )

Do you know what people want? Have you done research on what people want?

My opinion is this Spudster, If you can't run a forum like a normal person and learn from that you are not going to make this work for you.

Your forum has opened, closed, opened, closed to the point that you killed your own forum and that is why nobody visits it anymore.

I can't imagine Facebook sending me stupid emails like you do, I signed up to one of your forums a long time ago and now all I get is badly written emails saying your closing if nobody visits in 27 hours every couple of days.

But hey, Prove me wrong 😉

Dont worry I learnt my lesson and of course it wouldnt be on A .tk domain

Next weekend http://nintendocentral.info Im not going to close this forum

Im learning PHP & Creating Mybb Plugins

I, for one, will believe that when I see it, Spudster. I'm tired of seeing you advertise stuff and then closing a week later.

Really, until you can start proving to us that you can hold on to a forum for longer than a measly month, I personally, will refuse to join any site you come out with. You're about as bad as I was when I first started trying to run a forum. I didn't mean to be rude with that line, but this open/shut case is getting ridiculous. If I were on a Package team, I wouldn't even bother filling any of your requests as I know your forum wouldn't last with the way you keep things going. How do we know you're not going to start a Social network site and have that go down the drain faster than you started working on it?

Before you even consider starting up your own social network, I would suggest working on your spelling and grammar first. I doubt anybody is going to join a social network with misspelled words on the navigation bar.

School would be an awsome place to start you social network site do it at the end of year 11(UK i am guessing) where everyone is leaving which would cuase all the people to be sad as their are leaving their friends
This is until they find your social networking site where most of the school is on. and volia you have loads of new members
the main thing is to talk to people about it just a couple of months back so people will know about it.
Just my idea

While this does sound like a good place to start, and I don't know how this works outside the US, but there are schools out there who are strict about what kinds of sites you can and can't visit, and more often than not these do include Social Networking sites. So yes, while school would be a good place to start as far as promotion goes, I would take extreme caution as many schools are strict about what sites students can and can't visit.

Ok noq that i know that none of FP Are not going to bother in joining any of my forums whats the point now?? I promise that I wont do any more of the open & Shut business plus I did just spend $20 On my forum (TLD & Custom theme)
