Have you ever noticed that everybody who has a resume in any promotion forum says something like
Forum must have X posts and X members.
?

Well, they should know that success doesn't come easy! Staff can, in fact, help your forum! Anyways, just felt like saying that. 🙂

Resumes who have "forum must have 'x' posts" have too high of standards, and imo, aren't worth hiring then.

They do that because they don't want to be staff in a newbie forum or just don't want to help increase posts amount.

I hate that too.

Wait a sec... people are getting paid to moderate an online forum, and are being picky about it? Hehehe... that just made my day 🙂

They don't get paid, i think? But people have certain requirements in order for an admin to hire him/her.

We do all this for free... :great:

It is annoying yes, but the way I see it is, if an admin can't increase their own board's post count without copying and pasting topics from other forums, then they don't deserve me as a staff member 😉

I think people shouldn't hire from threads, they should hire active members who actually contribute to the community and actually want to be there rather than have authority over people on a active board.

Actually I disagree. I have a thread like that, stating the amount of posts, or around that. I had an offer to moderate a forum with almost 800,000 posts. Now, I know some will say its just luck, but also, it depends what you put in that topic. Just saying: "I want to moderate a forum with at least 10000 posts. Please post you link here." will get you nowhere. But describing what you can bring and past experience will get you those offers, like I did.

Actually, it could also be that the to be staff member doesnt want to join a dead forum.

Yes, also one thing I mentioned to some users, is that I don't want to accept an offer, and then later find out that the forum will close because the forum has a lack of activity. A set number of posts doesn't mean they have high standards, rather job security.

I don't see anything wrong with requesting that...its another to to reply to someone looking for staff and stating thats why....

Ah, OK. I see. I was wondering, hehehe. I have an excellent staff on both my forums (most of them work on both), and I don't pay my people. On the largest forum I am a part of, FileFront, none of us are actually paid, with the exception of one person.

To actually get money in exchange for moderating/running a forum for someone is almost unheard of, so I was a bit in awe when I thought someone would turn down an offer to do so, simply due to post count/members.

As an experienced staff member, where I to loan out my skills and time, I too, would want to make sure it is a community with a solid foundation. I wouldn't want to waste my time.

I'd slave away on a newbie forum if I was getting paid for it!

But if they're not getting paid, they probably put that minimum in there because they don't want to waste their time on an unproven forum, or wind up doing the work of a head admin to get it off the ground. Most upstart forums will fail. That's just how it is and has always been. These people are mostly interested in doing mid level management work on an established board.

Paying people to moderate your forum is kind of stupid, imo. Moderating is a volunteer job.

The only time I can understand someone being paid is if they're making a skin/code for your forum.

The only way that I could think of if its a support forum for a large company. Then, paying for moderating would seem appropriate as its their job, but I mean large firms.
