I'm sure there's not many of you out there who pay money to get music these days. So where do you get your music from then? Do you just listen on youtube, or do you download albums online? Do you use software to download songs?

I listen to the radio and set up my tape recorder and record 30 second or less segments of songs I like to keep it legal.

YouTube, and links in the descriptions on YouTube to download sites like MediaFire, DropBox, MegaUpload and other free file sharing networks.

I also use music social networking sites like Last.fm , Purevolume.com , Soundclick.com , and other websites.

I also sometimes buy music online from online MP3 stores which sells to Canadians.

I used to buy CDs, but not any more since I live kind of far away from record stores. Now, I use Amazon.com to buy CDs if I really like the artist.

I do too, but I don't like how when you sync your music from Spotify to your Ipod Touch, you have to use the Spotify App to listen to the music. I wish their was a way just to get it into Itunes.

This.

No honestly, I get most of my stuff from what cd and other illegal means. I have not bought a CD in quite a long time. Most of the local bands I listen to put their music on mediafire or bandcamp though.

Though I go to a ton of concerts and bought Rise Against's 7" single when I went to their meet and greet a couple months ago. Whenever I go to a concert (with only one exception I can remember, and this is from somebody who has been to tons of concerts) I make sure to buy a shirt to support the band. At Warped tour last summer I spent around $100 in merch.

I buy my music the legit way, on itunes... ...Even that feels like stealing 😛
In many ways iTunes is stealing. Stealing from the artist.
Do explain 🙂
According to this article, iTunes takes 35% of each sale. According to this graph, distributors of physical CDs (which involves more money, shipping the CDs, sorting, putting on shelves, rent for the store) receive 24% of a sale. If one were to sell their music independently, the graph would look closer to this.

For artists whom i want to complete my collection, I go on Amazon. Walmart only carries an artists newest work these days (as do most similar outlets) so it's kind of hard to catch up to a person's discoreography when you want to because it's so hard to find their older music anymore. As a matter of fact, I don't even look in the music sections of places like Walmart anymore for this reason.

Walmart also doesn't have explicit versions of albums.
