I think it depends on your site and what it's about where you advertise it. My site is a Link Checker Mod site so I've posted on lots of warez sites as they deal a lot with download link. Also advertised on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Bebo and webmasters forums like here, wjuction.com, yourtraffictalk.com among others.
