Where Is The Missing £ ?

You see a £97 shirt, but don't have any money, so you borrow £50 from your mum & £50 from your dad = £100. You buy the shirt and have £3 change, so give your mum £1, give your dad £1 & keep £1 for yourself. You now owe your mum £49 & your dad £49. So.. £49 + £49 = £98 & your £1 = £99. So where is the missing £1?

Is it this;

Net Payment: £97
You owe your mum and dad £48.50 each.
You pay them £49 each (£98 altogether) + £1 you kept, and then add the £0.50 x2 (£49-£48.50) and this would give you a total of £100.

Could be completely wrong though.

Each time i thought i had it, but when i thought about it again, i doubhted myself, lol

£97 + £3 = £100
You give £2 back, leaving £98 pounds that you still owe them. Where this money is does not matter: it is still inclusive in the money borrowed, and so is the £2 you gave back, as it was part of the original amount borrowed. Therefore;
£2 + £97 + £1 = £100
