I'm looking to get a hosting account (possibly a reseller) - where would you recommend?

I wouldn't normally promote for a company that I'm affiliated with, but in this case, I really do believe that Empire Hostings is a good choice. Sshadow just added another server recently, he's always on top of stuff like that. 🙂

Thanks for the heads up. I am looking into getting more clued into the whole tech side of things, and it'd be nice to have hosting whenever I should need it. The 'Beginner' package would be a nice start, I'll have to look into how to add a site to the hosting etc though. May seem simple to some people but I've never done it 😛

No problem! And as for that, it's not too bad. WHMCS is pretty easy to use if you like using cPanel. Let me know if you have any questions. 🙂

Thanks! I'll look into more detail tonight as I have picked up a few new domains which need hosting.

It depends what features you want, the purpose and what your budget is.

If you want a reseller for private use then I would recommend Rat Hosting as the service is great and cheap as well as Empire Hostings.

If you wanted it for a business then http://ezpzhosting.co.uk is more expensive however the features are awesome such as end user support if you would like it, free legal documents, free website template, resell domains, VPS and dedicated servers with free fraud protection etc.

So it is really your choice depending on what features you need, the cost and the purpose.

Mediatemple.com - It's the only host I can say for certainty is reliable. Hawkhost was good for a long period of time, but it's kinda slipping.

I have to agree with this. HawkHost did start out great but it's definitely not the best now. I've switched from shared hosting to a dedicated server now, at OVH.

DreamHost is always reliable. I normally do not affiliate with web hosting companies but they have a very solid product and would highly recommend them. When you sign up for a shared hosting account they have a lot of extra "features" and "addons" that smaller hosts do not have.

^ This. My site has gone down 3 times this past month (meaning, about once a week). Now I'm in the market for a new host, so this topic is certainly going to be helpful to me as well.

I've got a hosting site, I can give you an affordable plan and i've got reliable servers, I've got two servers. 1 in the UK and the other in the US. PM with the sort of plan your looking for and I'll give you a price.

Instead of Going with Reseller, why don't you swith to 'Lease-to-own Dedicated Servers'? After 12 months of leasing the server, you own the hardware.

Is that expensive?

That depends on the type of budget you have; as well as who you would be leasing (-> colocating with). But typically, yes it's expensive.

Could always go with a VPS and get a cPanel license from your provider (Obviously looking if they have licenses to begin with)

Prices for VPSs have gone down a bit, but there are so companies that over charge a boat load.

I've been using eurovps recently. I think the prices are pretty good and you get cpanel and WHM. The support is brilliant, they answer your ticket usually within minutes.
