On your forum, in what positions are section do you place advertisements? Do you think advertisements being placed in certain spots will increase clicks? If so, do you have stats to back up the placement increases clicks, on your site? What about certain types of ads in specific positions?

My option regards advertisement is that you do not earn that much, with people using ad-blocker and that Google rip people off anyway, do not get anything back. I mean might as well ad advertise to your website for free.

Unless you have a very very large forum based with over 150K traffic a month then you might earn a good amount of interest. But that doesn't help to pay off your VPS server. Meantime I like to have adverts but keep them medium so that they are not putting your traffic off. Also slows your site down if you have so many adverts to load up.

My locations are:
  1. 728 x 90 banners on the footer and below the header
  2. 728 x 90 after each topic on the board index and after the first post in topics
  3. 200x200 in the side widget and sometimes 300 x 250 also
  4. 84.32 small ads for those that wanted to exchange banners or whatnot
Simple and not so many of the ads, plus having less makes the site loads speeds good. Yet many sites nowadays do not bother having ads but earn other methods that helps.

The thing to look out for is this question "Where does my ad fit? Does it annoy my users?" If you can find a good place to put your ads without annoying your users, YOU will get paid a lot of money, especially in a good niche even with 2,000-3,000 views a week.

My ads are only in two places: Between posts, and the sidebar.

This ad heatmap shows some of the best and worse locations for ad placement. Have always used this and data derived from my sites directly to decide where to place them

Well, the excellent is a very bad location for me, I mean would be for most forums. That map is pointless in away since each website is different regards layout and whatnot.

Not really. If anything it reinforces that it's relevant to you because ads in between forums would yield the highest results -- cough, FP's community showcase section is in the excellent spot.

Most websites are designed very similar to the grid layout pictured. Most have sidebars, and are divided into pre-header, post-header, midpage and post-footer

I use adsense auto ads and ads appear wherever Google wants them to appear. When I am adding codes manyally, prefer to use header, footer and side bars.

I don't have any advertisements on my forum.

I've thought about doing "featured content" on my blog (when I decide to start making money on my blog). Where it is placed depends on what "theme" you're using as well (from the looks of it).

get more paid in cash from right from your clients then google

We have ads all over the place here at FP. We have a 728x90 header ad, a 728x90 footer add, a number of footer text links, a few 125x125 side table ads, a huge obnoxious popup ad, a full screen video background ad, and more... And let's not forget about our Community Spotlight. Plus we have ads on our social media, and we have sponsored sticky topics ads. All over the place. 😛

Google Adsense AutoAds. Disabled on the header and navigation area, and disallowed on some specific pages.
Currently set to a few ticks away from “minimum”.

Basically once you register an account, all ads disappear (it’s only enabled for guests). thus allowing people who want to discuss no ads or anything without having to pay.
