GoDaddy is probably cheapest, although Namecheap includes private registrations.

I say use .com as main url of your forums and buy .net and use it as a redirect. Then you'll have both...😛

I'd use GoDaddy. It's about $10 for the domain for the whole year. It's a safe and trustworthy website to use.
