Which hosting plan?

Basic, to start with. Forum Promotion is on Standard, but they were on Basic for a while. Basic should be good until you get a lot of traffic, although I'm on Standard my self.

Ok, I am going for the basic package but need some help, I have registered a domain with NameCheap and when it comes up the three options:
I want Hawk Host to register a new domain for me.
I want to transfer my domain to Hawk Host
I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain.

Which one shall I do?

I took the standard plan, and I bought yearly hosting from them.
For your question you choose:

I will update my nameservers on an existing domain Or I will register a new domain.

I paid $45 something for yearly hosting along using a promo code. Without that it would be more.

May I ask what the promo code is, I am slack for cash at the moment and well need the hosting straight away unless anyone else knows a site like HH and offers cheaper hosting?

Promotional Code: 5677 - 25.00% Recurring Discount
Lifetime Discount.

Basic would be more than enough for your forum. Unless it starts receiving a huge amount of traffic. 😛

All ready answered it for him 🙂

It really depends on your own needs. You can't say just cause FP used the basic plan for a while and now use the standard hosting plan that you will be fine on the basic plan cause FP has a lot of traffic.

I mean the admins of FP are smart (no im not sucking up) if you think about it they had the right amount of bandwidth on the basic plan because:

The images on the site are mostly hosted elsewhere and not hosted on FP which means less direct downloads were made meaning less bandwidth was used. phpBB also does not need a lot of resources, whereas another forum software such as vB or IPB require more, or a blogging system such as wordpress may require more also (dunno never personally used wordpress for a long time to test it). So just take into account those factors before finding the right hosting plan.

Talked to fowler a while ago, he said FP is on the Standard shared hosting plan not the basic. My site is on the standard plan aswell.

Ahh yea, and by the way I put basic on accident, my forum is on the standard like FP.

Oh ok didn't see that sorry. Well with low traffic and just a basic forum you'll be all good on the basic plan but as you grow and dependent on your software you use you may require a bigger plan (which you will eventually).

Yea I know my forum is growing to grow, so I just chose the standard from the start, and also since I use xenforo, invested alot of money on my forum allready.

My statement was in general and not just mean't for you. Also a forum is not about the amount of money you invest, but the amount of time and effort you put into it.
