Which is more important in regards to making things happen? Imagination or Intelligence?
I have known people of both types: those who poses the technical skills to do something but don't really seem to have a clue on how to apply it to anything beyond the known and predictable, and those who scheme and dream and have great ideas but no knowledge of how to make it work.
It seems to me that imagination is the child of curiosity, and though curiosity you gain the ability to apply the knowledge you acquire in a wider variety of venues.
I see what you mean. I mean, plenty of smart people without marketing skills - and possibly plenty of marketers without imagination. However, I feel the 2nd part might be false. The main problem is people with good ideas, but no brain in marketing.
Of course, another huge problem is lack of capital - along with no marketing skills - or even with them!
I have a lot of imagination and it didn't do me any good getting through school. If you were to allow me to make a trade. I would want more Intelligence. Maybe then I could make more money and get more things done in my life. If I was super smart. I'd definitely go back to school and make some career changes.
I think the question has to be answered in context of what the person is aiming for? If you aim to be a writer then imagination will get you success and the editor can worry about the rest. It's the story and characters that draw you in.
If you want to be a doctor then imagination isn't going to come in to play every day.
