Which Is Worse; Drinking Alcohol Or Smoking?

  • ● Do you smoke?
    ● Do you drink alcohol?
    ● Which is worse; drinking alcohol or smoking?

I don't smoke, but i drink on special occasions such as birthday, new year etc.

I find that drinking is worse, probably because i have seen more people suffer from drinking problems than i have smoking.

I don't smoke (Not saying I haven't tried, I don't regularly), but drink occasionally. (Holidays, Birthdays)

I can't truly have a side.
Cigs take minutes off your life, while alcohol can get you stoned enough to take your life instantly.

My personal opinion is that alcohol is worse. Smoking does not make people violent (well... maybe smokers get a tad irritated if they can not smoke... but not while smoking! lol!), vulgar or verbally abusive.

Alcohol will not just affect the person who drinks it, but also everyone around them will have to witness/suffer the consequenses. Yeah... you might say that people around a smoker has to "suffer" passive smoking... but really... would you rather have a few whiffs of smoke (it's more harmful walking in a trafficated street with the pollution from the cars) or someone who vomits on you/hits you/hit on you/are verbally abusive?

As for the health risks... just about the same.

I smoke... and I love it! lol! I don't drink anymore, gave it up nearly 7 years ago.

Both are as bad as each other...both are addictive (one more so than the other), both can cause harm to others - although one has to be done to excess to harm others. Both can kill and are unhealthy for the body.

This is really hard to say, they both are bad, I drink occasionally. I dont smoke though. Drinking, you can lose control and hurt people and become violent. Get in a car and crash, your not the same. While smoking hurts your lungs and can take time off your life, you dont get in wrecks and get violent because of it. So I am going to say I think drinking is worse.

P.S. Im not saying everyone gets violent, im just using that as an example.

both are as bad as eachother. I havent tried any of them, and i don't intend to.

Simple as that 🙂

Ever? You only live life once dude. Getting tipsy once wont kill you.

I've been tipsy before but I don't ever intend to get drunk. Even after one bottle of 5% alcohol I can feel my ability to think go down...it's not a nice feeling.

Yes, it can. Everyone has a different tolerance to it, lots of people get drunk off of one drink and get themselves killed.

Really, if you stay in the comfort of your own home and get drunk you are most likely NOT going to die, just get someone who is not drunk to stay with you so they make sure you don't do anything stupid.

Well yeah, but if you're by yourself then it can be dangerous. That's why you should always have a sober friend to look after you

Getting drunk in your home can be just as lethal because you can drink and buy as much as you want and have as much stored away as you want (a lot of pubs will say no to those who have clearly had too much). My next door neighbour has been a big drinker - especially on her own, and it's totally wrecked her body now she has to eat a special diet.

Yep, but just because your drunk on your own doesn't mean your going to end up harming yourself or/and others or killing yourself or/and others..

I never said that's what it meant, although drinking is harming yourself either way, without accidental harming of self (like falling down the stairs when drunk).

Smoking is worse in my opinion. Because you can drink a little and not get hurt, but with smoking one cigarette is all you need.
