I have a domain name I am looking to get up and running after the baseball season has ended. I purchased the domain name mlbtradenews.com. My question is which forum software would be best to use in your opinions? I currently run a site using vbulletin 4 software but I am not in the financial situation to pay another 150 plus dollars to get another vbulletin license. So any and all suggestions would be great.
SMF can be quite complicated and not user friendly + if you want to install mods there isn't as much of a wide variety as MyBB & PhpBB.
PhpBB can be a bit of a pain to install mods but has the most mods, you have to edit raw code and follow certain instructions however you can get automod.
MyBB is extremely easy to install mods because you just upload them to the correct sections in your filemanager and then activate the plugin but there aren't as many mods as PhpBB but there are a fair few.
I personally advise that you get MyBB if you're planning to start a forum. 🙂
I've heard that these two are quite good however, but you'll have to read into them further. You'll find a few hosting providers are also around Forum Promotion, you should try contacting them. 🙂
