Well I been thinking of making another general discussion forums but I needed alot better...software than SMF it has alot of bugs/errors..

but so far im leading towards...

vBulletin
IP.Board
or
MyBB

Still need alitte bit more opinions and suggestions thanks for your time everyone! :great:
Uhmm mind telling me what SMf version you were using?

I know 1.10 is stable as a rock.

SMF 2.0 rc1-2 is less stable and more buggy. Although is does have extra stuff.

For real though if you gonna make a General Discussion forum SMF and PHPBB3 are you best bets.

HAHAHAHAHAHA you kidding me right?

IP Board has the best skins of any forum software IMO.

Well I looked at the skin between IP.Board & the rest and I would have to say vBulletin looks like its worth the payment..but IP.Board is good for as a moderation forums for graphics/business forums..But vBulletin looks like its good for discussion/gaming forums.

And I tried version 1.1.10 and I found a kinda of bug with affiliates system when you install it when I accidently deleted it and it was still there I reinstalled it and another affiliates page pop-up and another affiliates tab on the bottom of the forums..so there's still alot of bugs in the SMF version 1.1.X and 2.0.0+.

The new IPB skin is a lot less gaming friendly, but if you try using the 2.3.X version, there's no security holes or anything, it's what my forum uses.

There are some great skins for it, like on here: www.ipbforumskins.com

Carbon and Deflection are great gaming site skins.

Shouldn't laugh though even if it's true. 😛

I guess that's just his personal taste. I for one think that IPB skins are far superior to that of any other forum software, but maybe he likes vbulletin skins, OR maybe he hasn't seen that many nice looking IPB skins.

Here are some websites with terrific IPB skins -

That is not SMF's fault that is the mod's fault.

Do not blame the whole forum software over a buggy mod you installed.

oh and for great IPB skins go here - http://www.invisionize.com/

Actually it was the settings.php and the installing of the package index.php when I installed the modifications with the package download so it is having problems with the software. 😉 I downloaded version smf: 1.1.10 but it said version 1.1.9 in some of the .php files. 😛

No it is not thats the mods fault.

When you install mods it changes certain files.

Like settings.php

As for the the php files being 1.19 thats you failing to do a complete upgrade.

I had this problem aswell with upgrading to 2 rc1.2 which was easily fixed thats to the guys on their forum.

Also http://skinbox.net is GREAT for IP.Board skins. The default one may not seem great but there are some amazing IP.Board skins. My forum is general discussion and I couldn't have asked for a better software.
