Here we are again..with another price hike by WHMCS. This time, they are really changing things up.

http://blog.whmcs.com/?t=119034

Here's how the WHMCS pricing model will look going forward:
  • Up to 250 Clients $15.95/mo (Branded)
  • Up to 250 Clients $18.95/mo (No Branding)
  • Up to 1000 Clients $24.95/mo (No Branding)
  • Over 1000 Clients $39.95/mo (No Branding)

if you manage 1001 or more active customers, your price will increase to $39.95/mo.

Almost a 200% increase, sad. I'd rather switch to another panel if I was using my company (like DirectAdmin) or a free solution that worked for the time being (i-MSCP for example).

It won't affect my company as such due to us having an Owned license. I sent them a ticket earlier:

Hello Chris,

Thank you for contacting WHMCS with your inquiry.

While we have implemented a new pricing structure effective October 3rd 2016, there are no immediate plans to change pricing to reseller licenses. As such, you will be able to continue to purchase and sell them at your current rate with no limitations.

For owners of Owned license, you will be grandfathered in and can continue using your license with unlimited number of active clients. Your Owned License will continue to remain active indefinitely and you can still renew the Support and Updates at any time. Please refer to the Pricing Changes FAQ for more information about the price changes.

I hope this brings reassurance. If we can provide any further assistance, do let us know.

But yes, a 200% price hike is absurd.

You will also get a 200% increase too. Owned licenses are getting an increase from $49 every six months to $99 every six months for continued support and updates. Still, cheaper than paying $40/m. Wish I had went the owned license route. I been meaning to get it, but just never bothered. Now I wish I had

However, hopefully this pricing helps them be able to hire more staff. Lately I been finding their ticket responses havn't been up to standards. Also I found the big 7.0 update not that impressive. Yes, the php 7 support and automatic updates is nice, but other than that there wasnt much added. They normally release a new theme too with every major update like that. However, no Seven update exists. Will still be using the Six design.

for web hosts.
Not just web hosts. Yes the main target audience is the web hosting niche, but you can use it for almost anything billing & support related.

I must have missed where they are increasing the owned licenses as well. Uhg.
I still haven't updated to 7.0 as I haven't seen it necessary to.

I have seen web hosting company's been using this software and MightWeb is one of those who uses the system.

You find that there aren't allot of members here that run there own web hosting niche.

I didn't update right away either. Until just yesterday. I didn't want to update until I knew everything was perfect. However, I have a custom design around WHMCS so I wanted to just get it done and over with. That is, migrating all the new template changes to my custom design.

I must have missed where they are increasing the owned licenses as well. Uhg.
It was stated in the comments of the blog post. Can't remember if the reply was from an actual WHMCS staff or not. So perhaps I am wrong. However, I can see them raising the price of owned too!

Hi Chris,

The new pricing changes do not affect the Support and Updates and so the renewal prices will remain the same at $59.95 for 6 months and $99.95 for 12 months. If the prices for Support and Updates do change in the future, we will notify all owners of Owned licenses.

If we can provide any further assistance, do let us know.

This is ridiculous how they have just hiked their prices by so much! I'm glad we are running off an owned license 🙂
Smaller businesses will probably consider other hosting billing/support panels. A smarter alternative would be to find reseller providers with WHMCS-included packages if you are running your hosting bussiness off a reseller anyways 🙂
