Having a high amount of reputation doesn't necessarily mean you're popular; it means that you've done many things that are reputable. And reputation shouldn't be given for popularity.

True. But popular can also be use in a way of saying that person is known=popular as in having much reputation. Thanks to doing good or nice things.

Yea, that's not at all popularity works. Usually you have to do the same thing everyone else is doing, you know, "cool stuff".

But yea, I didn't think it was a contest on how many comments your profile has.

Besides a lot of those comments are like thanks, and cheers. I say they shouldn't count, but whatever.
