Who promotes?

Which staff team on your forum does the forum's promotion/advertising?

I'm curious as to why someone would only have certain groups advertise the forum. As staff it should be your responsibility to help out with advertising anyway. There should be no "team" that is responsible for it.

Usually the advertising team should work on the promotion part. If the forum is just a start the administrator and moderator themselves work on the advertising.

I've seen where some forums have a specific advertising team or only moderators do the promotion the idea being that other staff e.g. admins will be able to focus on other things. If it works for them, then that's good.

I do all of the promotion myself. I could try asking my girlfriend (the forum's other administrator) to lend a hand, but I don't really need to.

I currently have a social media manager on my staff team that helps me promote my online communities on all the major social media sites. She works hard and we've been seeing more incoming traffic coming in from facebook, twitter and tumblr recently.

You are correct. I've seen this before. I remember seeing forum groups called "Marketing, Promoter & Advertising Staff" They're only role was to promote the site.

I guess I'm the only one who does. I usually just promote here at FP (sometimes not directly, such as the site battles and a link in my sig). I don't really mind, though. 😀

We don't have a dedicated advertising team, it's not really needed.

I do most of the advertising for Relix Music. We hired our moderator to help promote, but he hasn't done an awful lot.

I used to have a team who were in charge of advertising - but I chose to instead be the main advertiser. I ask for support from my staff team though when needed.
