Lol, like the title says.

Hey I don't know about you guys but damn I loved InvisionFree. It was so simple yet so powerful. Plus all the user scripts people made, damn it was super awesome.

I used it once, it was pretty awesome. I was shocked by how powerful it was however I didn't find the themes to be all that pleasing so I moved on from IvisionFree. I still see some forums today running the software, which is really weird but hey, sometimes you don't want to switch right?

Most forums on Invisionfree today are roleplay forums. It's truly amazing to see what forums do with the software that I never would have really imagined possible back in the day. The Admin CP is a lot like IPB of course, which made it complicated for first time users however it was fairly simple still. I miss certain things about IF but I like how people were able to convert from IF to Zetaboards - the move was nice. 🙂

InvisionFree IS IPB, so yeah the admin panel would be the same. 😛

I've used IF in the past, it's where I got my first start but if I was to set up a forum today under IPB 1.3 it'd be by Jcink. 🙂

Also, As Rachel said, Most IF forums are now powered by ZetaBoards. 🙂

I agree Reverie. I love Invision this is why I bought IPB and some of the old mods still works on 3.4.8 😱

I never had an active forum on IF, though I had a few test boards and joined a few boards on it. Fun fact: It's now called zIFBoards. Everyone's guess is IPB forced the name change to disassociate themselves with the old software.

I never knew that, you know what they say "you learn something new every day"

It just happened, pretty sure it was early 2015 (though it could have been late '14).

I did not know they changed their names, I just thought they discontinued the software completely and stopped letting people download it. 😛

Nice to know it still has a presence online. ^.^

Some of my most popular resource forums were on Invisionfree. <3 Those were really good days around forums though in general. I've seen more people use zInvisionfree lately but they are still majority roleplay forums.

I remember it quite well. A few forums there were pretty good in terms of all the features they managed to add via scripts and what not, and quite a few large gaming clans used to operate forums there back in the early 00s.

Just a shame they moved to a different software.

I remember it!

Yeah, that was a good service. 😛 I think ZetaBoards is better though. 🙂

Anyone remember the days where you had to change each individual image if you wanted a new theme? Like, literally, you had to post each image, and change each image URL in the control panel. Once you got it all done, it was a great forum software. Although this was at least 5+ years ago.

Yep, I remember that. I'll give that system some credit though, it did make it easy to figure out how to change each image. None of the messing about required for today's forum themes!

>tfw I'm on MyBB and I'm updating templates for some of these images
I personally liked ZB's theme system. I guess I should look at phpBB or a paid software since I'm developing a new forum software right now.

I do indeed remember InvisionFree, but I only used it once as I became a IPS customer soon after they went commercial post-1.3. I remember comparing 2.0 to what was still loaded on IF at the time. Was like purchasing a new car after trading in an old Rover Metro. IPB 1.3 is a solid piece of kit though and is a blast for those who are new to forum management.

I think I used it once but I didn't really like it. I would rather go with IPB.

Omg I almost forgot about IF. I never used it personally but there are some amazing creations out there with it.

My first ever forum was an invisionfree forum, back in 2006...
