Who uses more than 1 monitor?

I use 3 screens, one is 1280*1024 on my left, my central screen is a 24" 1920*1080, and my right screen is a 1680*1050. It makes it very useful for multitasking as well having a screen that is dedicated to monitoring system settings, putty etc. I don't see myself going back to a single screen as a primary system.
You should get monitors that are the same resolution. 😛

The only time I use two monitors is when I'm designing graphics. When I make stuff in Photoshop the graphics get distorted when published due to the fact that I'm designing on a Retina display. The second monitor allows me to design better for the web.

Considering a third. Think I'd need a desk upgrade 😛

I have 2 1920 x 1080 monitors and now a 50" tv that I swap between my xbox one and pc.

Two is really nice, but I can't sit in my recliner when I use two. So I am stuck with my lappy.

I don't want to die with bad eyes @@ I advise you that you shouldn't use more than one. If you do, please choose 2 screens with no difference! Switch to different screen with different brighness to much may harm your eyes

I typically use a laptop, so I have just one screen. I wish I had a second though. Sounds nice!

My setup is similar to Luke's. My primary display is my laptop, and my second display is a 1080p TV that I use for watching shows or other tasks. Having at least two monitors is a must for someone who works from home.

I used to use two, but use my lap top all of the time. So one now.

Giving this old topic a bump. 🙂

I've just recently been getting the most out of my new monitor setup at work. Here's generally what I use the monitors for. I have three of them in total. The largest monitor is in the center, and the two beside it are a bit smaller (but still pretty large):

  • Left Monitor: This monitor usually has the software that I'm working on up, so that I can test things, etc.
  • Central Monitor: This monitor has my code editor up most of the time (IntelliJ IDEA). If I'm focusing on something else, I usually move it to the central monitor so that I can get to it a bit easier.
  • Right Monitor: This monitor usually has either Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop up so that I can refer to design mockups as needed.

This leads to a pretty good workflow, particularly for GUI work. On the right I can see the mockup, on the left I can see the result, and in the center I can change things in the code.

I usually don't have email up on any of the monitors, although sometimes I put a web browser up so that I can refer to code documentation that I'm using. I usually find email to be too distracting when it's visible on the screen, as I find myself looking to see if anything new was received.

At home I usually use a laptop, but with Mac OS you can swipe to the left/right between multiple desktops, which simulates infinite monitors. I really, really like this workflow, as I can have my IDE, illustrator, and the result up on different screens and swipe between them.

I'm currently using two monitors right now. I usually have several things going on at once so having two monitors makes things go a little bit faster since I can see two different things at the same time.
