So who do you think ? a member , owner , administrator , mod could be a top poster on forum ?

I think the owner as he tries to reply each post so his forum gets more posts .

Owner isn't necessarily the case. I have seen countless forums where the present owner isn't the top poster. Even here on FP, Fergal isn't the top poster (but the founder is, though). I would say loyal members are the top posters, the ones that have continued to support the forum from day 1. They will end up being the top posters and for good reasons 😉

So, for the poll, my option is Other >> Loyal Members 🙂

I think that AN (grammar, that poll kills me inside) Administrator would be the highest poster. Not always the Owner, since they may not have enough time. I think that Administrators need to reply to many threads, especially Introduction and Feedback, to be a better role model.

This is a tough one, at the start of a forum the owner/administrator(s) will have the most posts, but as the board gets bigger it may not.

So one question to all above, what is a retired admin counted as? A member or admin?

I usually see retired admins as the top poster so the poll sort of stuffs itself up.

I'm the top poster at my business forum. As dotDavid, I'm not the top poster here, yet. I would say that for quite a lot of forums the owner is the top poster.

I think there is a group 'ex-staff ' usually .

I think this is incorrect. For me the owners job is to make sure everything on the site is useable, readable and user friendly, fixing errors and such other things is what I expect the owner to do.

I chose Administrator, as their main job is to keep out SPAM, edit users and such so their activity should be relatively high.

It is usually the owner. I was top poster for 3 years on my forum with 36,000 posts but I am now number 2 to a member with 37,000 posts (due to me not posting much anymore).

It would depend on the quality of the poster, as I'm the Founder of UKG and I've only got the 2nd most posts, due to a member having made sure to reply to every single post he could to get his views in.

That's a huge commitment for a member to make to your forum. Is that member a stranger who found your site through a search engine? I'd be interested to hear how you got such a strong commitment from a member?

I think it looks really bad when the owner and moderators exceed everyone else in posts. It makes it look like they're the only ones who are active.

It's hard to find members who post a lot when you just started a forum though so you'll usually find the Admin having the most posts because he has to keep creating topics and posting.

The person who created the forum is usually the one with the most posts. Nobody is more dedicated then they are (unless they've lost interest or sold it or something. lol)
