Girls are obviously smarter depending on the subjects really. We have better reasoning skills I find. 😛 Also usually a high patience to actually learn things, discover new things while men usually are stubborn and tend to not try to learn how to do things. 😛
A percentage of humans are smart and a percentage of humans are stupid. Gender has nothing to do with their level of intelligence. Every person born has the potential to be either.
I think girls are smarter but Joe makes a good point.
Girls are more mature, we take the time to think things through when most guys are immature and don't think clearly or pay attention to what they should be thinking about.
If you are going by age and typical distractions, girls are generally smarter than boys in childhood, because boys are more distracted with having instant gratification. BUT when both genders age more towards the adult side of things, boys tend to take education more seriously than girls. Remember, that is generally speaking. There are plenty of smart people with both genders as adults.
So personally, I can't make that decision on labeling which gender is smarter than the other.
Girls/women have a motherly instinct and with that I feel comes 'common sense'. I feel the majority of males are very capable with 'tasks' so to speak. Having said this I do not feel that that certain capabilities are exclusive to one gender. Males are more than capable of raising the young, and females are more than capable at dealing with any task in hand. But we are different; the difference narrows as time goes on, but we are different. And by different I do not mean unequal. Males need females and vice versa. But a lioness and a lion have their respective roles in their pride, in which they both excel. And fundamentally as animals on this earth; we do too.
I think woman are smarter. They don't stand out much so you don't know how smart they could be. Everytime there's a battle, there's a woman behind (or even more). They tend to stay at the backstage and control thing through emotion and feeling. No matter how logical you are, there'll be someone overcome it with their own reason. But if you can transmit your feeling to your opponent, that'll be a hard hit to their heart and likely to change their decision.
One more thing: Women tend to be unreasonable while men tend to be logical. So in a normal quarrel, woman always win.
One more annoying thing: If you hit a woman >> You're a bad guy. If you got hit by a woman >> You're the bad guy, again. See how women control the world in their own way ?
In the Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math realm there are far more males, although, in my opinion, this is due to society shoe-horning women into traditionally female career paths, and men into traditionally male career paths. Women can be, and are, excellent engineers. There are just less of them right now, due to the way society has been structured in the past. But I think, in the future, we'll see gender gaps narrow and eventually go away, as our culture becomes more open. I don't think either gender is fundamentally smarter than the other.
It doesn't matter what gender you are. If you put forth the effort and motivation to become smarter every day, then you are smart. If you want to 'genderize' this then I'd hate to see what you're doing in today's day and age. Lol.
Society has put a gender role on everything, and I think it's time people realize their full potential and not care if girls can be the smart ones or if guys can be the smart ones. Everyone is smarter than others in certain area's, and some are just overachievers. 😛 In all seriousness, though, it has nothing to do with gender.
"Smarter" is a rather relative term in my opinion. If you're referring to overall intellect, it all depends on the individual in question. I know guys that are smarter than certain girls, and vice-versa I know girls that are smarter than certain guys. It all depends. Historically speaking, your greatest inventors and scientists of the past will be predominately male. However, that could be attributed to the family dynamic back then, when women were not allowed to be educated and pursue such career fields. Going back to the original question in today's context, anyone can be smarter, male or female, as both have access to the same learning facilities.
