Why are you sick of new promotion forums ?

A lot of them are same, same members, same platform outlay, same boards being promoted. Nothing ever different

Being on two or more promotion boards might allow for more forum posts and other work.

TAZ is another one, but I doubt many people here know about it.

The reason why most people here don't know about TAZ is because it's mainly geared towards community owners that know what the hell they're doing and don't need the useless services that FP offers. TAZ offered discussions that helped build webmasters from nothing to something, which helped them run their communities more effectively.

FP has always, and will continue to, be for webmasters that are just starting out and thrive off the cheap promotion directory and the services to just get by. FP is geared towards surviving off the services to keep their communities open rather than building a foundation of skills required to run a community.

What would those services be?

All of them. The packages are ineffective because it's not organic in the sense that during the package, you're getting posts then all of a sudden the posts stop because the package is done. The reviews, well look at where those are right now. The additional services are just as worthless. Focus less on advertising on FP, which you're only advertising to a handful of people (because FP is dying, just saying) and focus on advertising on larger mediums and you will see a better return.

Well, outside traffic is needed for forums. Stuff like search engine traffic, social media, and quality pay-per-click. When you're just on here, it's like some neighborhood band playing for other bands. In other words, only other bands hear the neighborhood band - not the masses of people that would listen to Pearl Jam or something. That was the problem on the movie Airheads.

Anyway, as far as packages are concerned, if you want consistent post, then you're better off with daily, bi-daily, weekly exchanges. I think those can be effective, but a lot of niches nobody wants to post in.

I've noticed when promotion forums are created, it has the same community members. Same people typically. However if there was a bigger place for all forums to truly advertise that would be helpful. When I first found Forum Promotion it was more so the place. But since I've found other forums off of Forum Promotion it's all the same people again lol.

Wish there was a way to reach out to new people, but if your niche isn't googled, or popular enough it's just going to be tough for you to truly get new/different members through promotional forums.

I think it boils down to money, but people either unwilling or unable to put forth a budget.

@OP
There are many people following the same dreams, I think what actually bothers you is the lack of effort as you understand it takes many invested hours to show clear effort in your work,
and if you expect a successful website or business you need to treat it as such. :oldman:

Building takes tons of work which may or may not cost money, but the traffic normally has to be bought.

Traffic is definitely not easy to obtain, and like with mostly everything, money definitely helps. :greedy:

I know about TAZ, the problem I found with TAZ was that it was either people constantly yelling about XenForo being great (probably to spite IB), people going on about how vB is evil, etc.

Just a year ago, someone was linking me to a thread about Internet Brands apparently stirring the pot again with people getting outraged. Who cares. vB is finished. Only the most obstinate webmasters who don't want the hassle of migrating use it. And vB3 no less with it's zillion security flaws.

Which is sad, because I remember back in 2011 when it was actually a vibrant community where you could have some real discussion, and then, vB5 came round and it all went to hell. I haven't visited in years, but last I checked, it still hadn't recovered.

I get it, they got burned by the whole change in management, etc. but to me, vB is dead and it has been for a very long time. And it's not a promotion forum. It's to discuss administration.

But talk about IPB. Talk about MyBB. Talk about phpBB. Hell, let's throw Discourse in there. And all you get are crickets. A year goes by, maybe two, and then someone replies to your topic after you've long left.

It's basically an extension of xenforo.com, all the same people, kinda like how every promotion forum is basically people from FP. And remember, XenForo is not actually anywhere near that popular, last I checked, it only had 15 - 20% or so market-share, tied with IPB.

And I think FP's services are on the way out, they seem to be getting shut-down one by one, they're just not really relevant these days. Paying someone a virtual currency for them to spam my site? No thanks. Someone is either interested, or they are not.

No. I am one of those people who "scream" xenForo is great. It is.

vB is finished as a brand, but Internet Brands is supporting it, so in a sense it's not. It's just a shadow of its former self. vB is evil. They chased off a lot of customers, and from what I've been seeing, no one at IB seems to be learning their lesson(s). In fact, vB.org is currently being killed off due to "staff shakeup." Paul stepped down, along with the majority of the vB.org staff except for "TheLastSuperman."

vB4 you meant. It was dead as soon as vB4 launched as "gold."

You're right, but they do also offer promotion. The site is pretty big, you'd benefit from their network. My only problem is with the owner. He, too is evil, so I wouldn't be surprised if TAZ is sold to IB eventually. 😉

And then, only then, he'll get a piece of his own medicine. 🙂

IPB is shitty.
MyBB is a shitty forum software with basic forum features. *facepalm* Ugh.
phpBB same as MyBB, but has been around for a long time.
Discourse is bare. bones. I don't understand how people are even supporting it! I like the owner, but it's... oh man, it's too basic!

lol. "It's not popular." lol. Oh man. Okay. Yeah, okay. Whatever. Look around you man, there's a lot of forums powered by xenForo.

I don't like using XenForo. It has too many bells and whistles for my liking.

What bells and whistles?

phpBB has a lot of legacy code, so I wouldn't be surprised if your site gets hacked eventually.

I guess I just like a more simple interface. That's probably why I still use Windows 95.

I would press the "Wow" emoticon, but there's a "facepalm." But... Wow.

Holy shit. Be careful on the internet, then.
I mean, I tried Windows 10, but you try running it with a 200 MHz Pentium processor and 16 MB of RAM.
Then find $1000 and buy the latest and greatest computer or laptop. Windows 10 isn't that bad, it has a few bugs here and there, but they're working on building the software to where it's more stable.

Windows 95 is very, very legacy, very old, and you may someday get bogged down by viruses and bugs. There's a reason why it's "End of Life." Same goes for Windows XP.

Windows XP is the most used OS in the world today. It got better, but it's still wide open to attacks. As soon as it went EOL, more hacking resumed. Microsoft closed up the holes, but the point still remains.
