Why are you sick of new promotion forums ?

Honestly, why can't we all grow up? On both ends.

The people telling people to "grow up" for stating their opinion on this topic are the ones that need to grow up. 😉

More like riping into the amateur forum creators who put little to no thought into their forum and give up on it when its not an overnight success.

Minds change. It's a fact of life, and nobody is making any of these situations better by making incredibly unnecessary threads like these.

"incredibly unnecessary threads" is just one perspective. Perhaps people who are thinking of starting a promotion forum will read over the replies and figure out what to avoid.

There are tonnes of mediocre upstart forums all over the place in ALL genres. Only a small few will thrive. I visit several promotion forums; warrior forums, digital point, admin zone, RPG directory and RPG collection. They are all promotion forums and all very different.

I AM sick of blatant ripoffs though. Of ANY kind.

Its not that I dislike promotion forums, its more those promotion forums who start off at FP. If they started off somewhere else, and has no relation to FP, I would probably join. Basically, you are relying on a whole member base moving to another forum. What's the use in that? You get the same people, so really, the new owner loses out in the end. If they started off somewhere else, at least there would be a different member base and that would help out significantly for your site.

I just fell there's no need for any more of these forums. It's a waste of time and they only do it for a small sense of self-importance. I would recommend doing something better with your time. If I could make a suggestion for a better usage of your life, why not learn C++ and spare yourself from 8 years of forum running and 30 years of burger flipping? Sure, I don't mind anyone makign a forum, but try and do it in some field which will give you a greater level of satisfaction.

Oh, the classic "I'm just stating my opinion" shield. There's a difference between stating your opinion in a civil manner and making asinine threads/statements. If this thread were titled "New Promotion Forums" and asked what people thought about them, then it would be fine. However, this topic was clearly created just to rip into the people who are starting the forums.

I am not trying to rip into everyone but it does seem everytime one is made there is always somebody who says Not another one or another copycat,

They don't have to be. I have tons of ideas that I've never seen on a promotion forum, but I refuse to make a promotion forum.

Haha, to the guy that called THT a troll, because he clearly isn't your the troll.
Anyway, the reason they fail is because they try to copy FP ~ same services, layout, and what not, and want it to grow over night when it won't then they close it.

I don't have any problem with new promotion forums as a whole, as I don't think all new promotion forums call into the same stereotypes.

The new promotion forums that get under my skin are those that the admin has made because he has seen FP & other promotion forums and thinks that he'll get instant success. And then when he realises how hard it is, he closes them down. I've joined so many promotion forums in the past that I'm sick of contributing to new promotion communities as it goes to waste 80% of the time.

Don't let this thread put those that want to make a promotion forum off, as someone said earlier, take in what has been said and try and make yours different.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this topic. I have read every single post and it has helped TREMENDOUSLY, by seeing what you guys don't like about all the new promotion forums, i can make a forum based off of everything else.\

So thank you guys as you are helping me create a successful forum.


PS: And yes with the thread title you kind of are implying that you are ripping on promotion forums.
