Why can't I find any big affiliates?

I tried the disabling guest viewing of profiles code and then the coloured names display wouldn't work for guests, I need it to work for guests because the ability to trick out your profile is a big draw for some people. So that's not going to happen.

If I have to pay for a domain name and impose it over the forum in order to get a better ranking I'll do it, i mean it'd only be what, $25 or so for a year's registration. I just don't know how to make it go to the forum.

Update: well, I hid the calendar from guests. Going to see about how to get rid of live chat and help links from main menu since I can't see where to do it. I may need a code.

$25 a year? Good Lord, where are you shopping? lol

Try GoDaddy for domains. They're actually having a special right now, but that's only if you buy several domains. I think, just for one, you'll pay $10 or so a year. They are horrible web hosts (matter of opinion), but pretty excellent registrars.

HostMonster also registers domains for $10 a year. Hostgator is something like $15 a year.

Stud, I'd be glad to affiliate with you if that's what you're asking.

...lol, I DID buy the $25 name through GoDaddy, like a couple years ago. Wound up not doing much with it and let it expire.

I think domain registrations is pretty much all that people use GoDaddy for ^_^

I look and look and they either don't affiliate at all {and I never see them advertising anywhere either so where are they getting all their people?} or flat out refuse or often just never respond.

What am I doing wrong and where can I look that I'm not already looking? I want to affiliate with other LARGE RPGs. Multi or single, just about any genre would do. Non RPG, fandom/anime sites are also welcome, we have a lot of anime fans on our site. I've had it up to here with dead ends, wasted time and rejections. And it's not like I'm a site that never gets any hits and just wants to take without giving any hits back. I have proof we get hits on our affiliates. The largest two sites I've ever managed to become affiliated with were about a quarter our size.

Where are all the other big games and uh...what do I need to do? What's going on?

I feel the same way sometimes. Though I know sometimes the big sites only want to affiliate with other big sites.

Acorn, I still suggest you work on your backlinks, which will help contribute to your PR, which will help contribute to affiliations.

Working on it 🙂 I found a few plugboards to put my link up. Backlinks seem to be the thing I can best control at this point, so I'll focus on them. The thing is...It's kind of strange I only have 80 or so backlinks turned up on that site, because I have posted literally over a thousand advertisements on other sites' ad boards over the past year or two and most of them are still there. A few even occasionally get a hit even if they're older.

*jumps up and down* I have a popular thread on this board! XD I know...I'm easily amused.

You guys are the best. You help an amateur like me at no cost at all.
