Are people more likely to visit a company Facebook page which they saw a link to on a TV commercial then a Website link they saw on TV?

I notice a trend of companies using their Facebook Page link at the end of their commercials, newspapers, and offline media instead of their actual website link.

My best guest it is it is simpler for people to type in Facebook.com/pagename then example.com since a lot of people might be already on Facebook, or have Facebook bookmarked in their web browser. Plus, Facebook is almost as "AOL Keyword" to find a company like when companies say find our page online with "AOL Keyword : Company"

I think using Facebook to promote their services might be useful if they have a lesser known domain name like .org, .co.uk, .net instead of .com , so users won't by mistake type in .com and go to a competitors site.

Companies don't use whole TV commercials to advertise facebook. They will advertise their product and then say something such as "Like us on facebook at facebook.com/companyname for more"

They advertise it so that consumers get updated news on their products, therefore ending in more sales. Also because facebook has a lot of target audience.

I agree, I use Facebook to keep up with news and discounts from companies I use I like Swagbucks.

Facebook can also be a good place to get positive feedback and refferals from satisfied costumers, but if the companies customer service is bad, it can cause unsatisfied customers to post complaints on their page.

I like to think the opinions on Facebook are more real compared to feedback on some companies websites which can be more easily faked by paying money, giving discounts, or writing fake reviews on their site written by the companies employees.

That is true, probably seeing as how many TV viewers and Facebook owners there are these days, it's a good way to boost their product or whatever they are advertising. ;]

I notice TV news like CNN, and Talk shows like Ellen, Dr. Phil, etc are using Facebook a lot to keep in touch with their fans instead of a forum on their own domain. It seems TV shows just use their website domain to manly receive e-mail from people who are not on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, etc, but still want to interact with live TV news anchors, and talk show hosts.
