Why did you start you forum?

I have been making forums for a very long time now. Each and every one of my projects have a original and well thought out purpose.
I always end up handing it over to my most loyal members though...
But this does slowly give me a team of experts ready to help out with my latest construction.

I made a forum becuase I had been on a lot of other forums that had abusive members, and equally abusive staff, as well as places that were either too strict, or not strict enough.

I been to forums where members were ostracized and ridiculed for having an opinion different from the majority, and/or the staff. I simply wanted to create a mature, and laid-back environment where people would feel free to talk about anything, and speak their mind without worry.

And so I did. I closed my forum in June of 2006 due to the merging of mine and my brother's forum, and so, I applied that mentality to our forum, and according to our members I have succeeded.

All mine are mostly RPG boards, so I think thats obvious, right?

The other two are a little less maybe.

One is a directory for rpgs, of all types, message boards, any type of message boards, email, yahoogroups, livejournal, greatest journal, etc. Usually you find a directory for just invisionfree and proboards, but not all that.

The other is a fanfiction awards site for fanfiction of well, a HUGE variety and I'm ALWAYS adding things and more fandoms too it. I'm a writer of romance novels and fanfiction so, and I know others out there would love recognition for their work, as would I, so I thought, what the heck? Plus, I used to have a WEBSITE for fanfic awards based on three shows but I wanted to add more but couldn't cause it was just too much work so I made a board which cut the time it took to update in more than half - which I can now spend on a lot of other things and I can add a lot more fandoms. So it all works out.

Whew, I just wrote you all a book!

I started mine because CTV's Question Period was shut down. I was just getting into chatting on line then nothing. I heard about the site I have my board on and created a Canadian Forum For Us ...meaning Canadians but others have stopped by to register.
