I'm not sure why some internet users classify Google Chrome as a spy software, but it could be because of rumors, or they are trying to spread a Google conspiracy regarding privacy and chrome.

Most of the users who say this seem to source/link to sites which aren't well known for being a reliable source for privacy advocates like the EFF ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic ... Foundation )

Google Chrome is doing more to protect users privacy and online security with useful features like incognito mode which protect users privacy from other users who use the same computer, and Google Chrome does a better job protecting users from phising scams, spam, spyware, malware, and viruses with the built-in sandbox then Internet Explorer 6, and other web browsers, so Google Chrome seems like a very safe web browser to use for web users.

I had not heard this, and just about any site you visit with any browser sends and receives data regarding ones online activity.

I think fire Fox you can actually surf anomalously. Can you do this on the other browsers as well?

It wouldn't depend on which web browser you use to surf anonymously. It depends on certain tools like TOR and plugins like https everywhere. As for Google Chrome spying on you, they do collect data to check your surfing habits. This way they can make ads geared toward your surfing habits. You can however disable this. I really do not understand why people care about this because most sites collect data on your including major sites like ,facebook,google,twitter,etc...

I had heard about this before but never fully understood it, thanks NBK twitch, for condensing it in a few lines, now I kind of get it.

Thanks NBK Twitch for helping explain this.

I also don't understand why people are afraid of tracking since a lot of the visitor stats collected by sites is used to improve the web like making more relevant website, improving page load times based on the average load time per user, and improving content based on keywords by finding out which search engine and website most users find your website from.

My best guest is some people are confusing tracking with key loggers found in actual malware and spyware which can lead to identity theft and other problems.
