It seems they hate smart people.I'm not a nerd but i don't see anything wrong with having a chance to become a millionaire in a few years? my friends hate nerds and geeks so i dumped them now i have new friends maybe i will start promotion zone once again. but main thing is why they hate nerds ?

Well, where I come from, a nerd is someone who studies hard in school and focuses on intellectual-type hobbies (like video games, chess, websites, etc.). They aren't necessarily 'smart' (as in IQ-smart).

People tend to not like them because nerds are usually not ones to want to socialize and mess around when they could be, idk, studying or working on a project.

All in all, it's a combination of people being A) jealous, B) not liking the less-social personality and/or C) they don't understand them.

I mean I don't really like nerds myself (some are very annoying and think they're better than everyone else), though there are some that I know that are pretty decent people.

Owning a website doesn't really make you a 'nerd' nor does it really mean you're going to make millions. Not all teenagers hate nerds, where I live no-one really hates them at all and everyone for the most part gets along just fine. Maybe you just live in a town/place what's sadly full of nerd haters.

In my opinion for the people who hate nerds is just because nowadays in schools and such it isn't considered 'cool' to do all your work without messing around or talking during class and for those people who put their heads down and get amazing grades they are just considered nerds and such.

It really depends on the definition of 'nerd'. Owning a forum is no where near being a nerd. And it is sad that your friends felt that way.

The type of nerds that most people dislike are the ones who do not act properly in public. Or they act a little 'odd' in public. It can make someone feel uncomfortable. I remember people in middle school. The nerd table was full of students with glasses, playing pokemon on their Gameboys and with cards at the same time. They didn't talk to anyone outside of the group and when you tried they wouldn't look at you. Most of them were in the robotics club and just acted a little strange. I didn't mind them - just became frustrating when I needed to communicate with them.

I find myself to be a nerd at times and I claim it with pride. I'm my own person - I do well in most social activities, I am a video gamer who loves books and clings to movies. I know many people in the same category of nerd as me.

I would suggest not opening another forum but perhaps being a moderator or something that way you can see if you can deal with the pressure of being called a nerd.

I think the problem is we live in a world that praises extroverts and shames introverts and most nerds tend to be introverts.

The best way I could explain the difference between the two is introverts gain energy from being alone while an extrovert loses energy by being alone. An extrovert feels invigorated by being around a lot of people while an introvert feels the life get sucked out of them from being in such a situation.

Each has their strengths and weaknesses and it would serve us all better to see what both sides have to offer instead of shunning one over the other because of how "cool" it might appear to be to do such a thing.

Where I live, the one who hate nerds and geeks are always the ones who aren't as smart as them. And so, in jealousy, they'll call you a smartass.

I've been called that countless times.

Lots of teenagers ARE nerds. Just saying. 😛

Also, "nerd" is not really a real thing. Its just a name some people call other people, it doesn't really hold any actual merit or value.

Just like when people call me smart even though I'm not.

I just know stuff. :\

Any name calling by someone directed at another, usually proves that the person doing the name calling is not smart themselves, and have to go to name calling to try to make themselves feel better for not being a certain way.

The way I see it, if I were to call someone a nerd, or anything relating stuff like that, I would go out of my way to find a word that means the same thing, but is so unused, that no one will know what it means anyways.

What a nerdy idea. 😛

I don't get discriminated because I make websites. Me playing sports and looking sexy keeps me popular.
Many know I make websites and actually praise me and think I am a smart person which is pretty cool I guess.

The definition of nerd varies from different people. But Teens are just growing up and being a teenager can be a difficult time for some people. You're finally figuring out who you really are, and you try to fit in with different crowds. They do whatever they can to feel welcomed even if it means hurting other people's feelings. Your friends probably think they are cool for making fun of you, and they want to fit in but in a few years once they graduate and grow up a bit they'll come to their senses and realize that it was wrong to treat you the way they did.

Seems like a stereotype to me. I think some teens 'hate' 'nerds' because as people say, they are trying to blend in with bigger crowds without regards to the other people's feelings. It's what some teenagers see as 'cool'. Nevertheless, it's not good.

So according to your post there... you are athletic, sexy, popular and smart. How does it feel to be perfect and live the perfect life?

Simple.

Because they know that they can't be humiliated by the intelligent ones.

Nerd's are teenagers, no? 😛

Well, usually. And no, not really. If they hated them, why would they be going to them for help and "homework" advice? 😛

Because they can bully them into helping them.

Can you give some examples of people not acting properly in public? I don't think we should dislike anyone until we get to know them. For all we know they have a disability like autism or aspergers along with other things that make them behave that way.

I really hate to generalize people and put them in a box. Remember, measure people the way you'd like to be measured by. I also don't judge people; its not my place to be a judge. Unfortunately, unless you live under a rock with no communication to the outside world; you will run into people like that.

I believe you made the right adult choice of choosing better friends. People always have choices and the people you used to know made their choice.
