Why do teenagers hate nerds?

If you're the type of person who has to bully someone, then you'll probably find someone to bully. Back in the stone age it was probably whichever neanderthal(s) had the most crooked teeth. Now it's nerds. Nothing much anyone can do about that. 😛
A big threat of not being a nerd is that you become a mindless puppet. In addition, conforming can sometimes be degrading to one's pride and humanity.
I wouldn't all say that teens say that. in my teen life I didn't. Te word has been going since they started having tech in schools and a handful of tech guys using them. nowadays everyone is using them. Al teens are nerds since they like texting on phones all day long 😛

seems legit, not all nerds are smart.
Well technically I'm an adult now but even when I was a teenager I never hated anyone. Maybe I just have always had the smart people mentality but that's just me. Maybe others hate them because they felt left out? Just a thought...
I suspect a lot of it is hating. People cannot stand those who do good in school. However, they also cannot stand bodybuilders. in fact, in my town, if you go jogging on the street you get subject to ridicule by townies.
Basically, it's just a situation where anyone who stands out - is knocked down. However, there are arrogant people out there who need a lesson in humility - but it isn't always the case.

The perception by others is that certain people are straight A students when they may not be.

The thing about hate is it doesn't always have to have a rational reason for why someone has it. A person could easily be filled with anger towards someone they are afraid to confront so they go looking for someone weaker(talking about physical strength here) then they are and take it all out on them instead to temporarily relieve their anger until next time when the process starts up all over again.
What is deemed to be the stereotypical nerd is usually someone who lacks physical strength in regards to most so he or she is seen as not capable of being a threat hence why they get targeted for abuse because the ones who are out looking for an outlet for their anger see the stereotypical nerd as the perfect candidate to be their "punching bag". In many cases, the bully can easily be as much a victim of bullying as the ones they bully.

I think there are good and bad nerds. The ones that go bad become school shooters, get into racism etc.. They're the ones with the losing attitude. For instance, do I really care that some on-the-fringe blogger cannot attract what society considers attractive women? So now this person is going make everyone pay - including saintly people who obviously did nothing to them?
This is more of a modern myth nowadays. If you would compare nerds from 90s and kids today, you could equally call them all nerds because they are all over the internet, technology and stuff. But since that became a normal thing, calling someone a nerd for being on PC a lot is silly nowadays. Calling someone a nerd because they study hard and like to study is another thing though. But honestly, kids bullying nerds, that is slowly turning into a modern myth. Kids who participate in bullying usually just pick on someone who they think is an easy target and might take bullying worse than others.
