I'm using MyBB and didn't have much problems with it. Support was OK since it's 'free' per se, half of the custom mods on my site came from their help and half from me when I searched around and like mix all that I found to make something work. I 'might' switch to a paid platform if my community gets big and receive memberships from my members. Xenforo looks good but when I looked at their Community most of the things I saw was all paid mods, I get that they need it but I think I'll just go for it when I have a steady cash flow from my community rather than when I don't have much since I'm already paying for hosting and domain, and paying for something more isn't quite sustainable.
