Recently, many sites were penalized with Google's reincarnation of the Penguin algorithm with Penguin 2.0. Now it seems blog networks are not viable for backlinking. But why?
One reason might be that many blog pages in a network only link out to one site.
Getting backlinks from any new site such as recently created blog or web 2.0 page in a blog network will look very suspicious, especially if that page/site is only linking to one page on the same site every time.
One way to possibly minimize damage of any existing links on a blog network is to link out to credible, high page rank wiki sites. Google will observe these links as an attempt to help the reader gain more information.
Freely link to valuable resources on your web 2.0 pages, not just your own.
This is just one idea to make blog networks more viable.
Please suggest any other ideas for a blog network that won't get you penalized.
