Out of the many important factors in being successful, I think, one of them is your website's design. Simply put your website is your image online. It's how clients and visitors remember you. Humans have the tendency of respecting hard/detailed/professional work and having a custom, well designed website shows how seriously a visitor can take you.
A visitor decides to even start reading a page on your website by the looks and colors of your website. Once the design at least suits the visitors eye, the visitor starts reading. And this means, your content is just as important as your design. Spelling/grammar mistakes, awkward formatting, and improper font sizing can throw off a potential client.
Why do you think website design is important, what can it do for you business, website, forum or blog?
The first thing people see when the webpage starts to load in their browser is how it looks, the colours used and the layout. It is virtually impossible to load a webpage and read the content of the page without realising and judging the appearance of the website. You need to look at the website in a certain amount of detail to find the content you want to read so you will notice the colours used and the design even if you didn't intentionally set out to judge the layout/design of the website. If it is awful then users will likely not hang around. If it looks quite nice, users may be willing to continue reading or even sign up. Humans make first impressions quickly and it can be hard to change those first impressions. The first impressions is usually made on the appearance before the content is even read or judged by the user.
Because it's the first thing that stands out before content. Even though content is most probably the most important component of a website, we don't get to see content right away after clicking on a link. We see the shape, the appearance, how the look attracts our eyes to check the insides.
And because I think we remember shapes/colors easier than texts. 😛
Design is very important! Being the first thing new internet users see when they click your link link, it is essentially what is seen as the start of your brand. If its a poor design, users will assume that everything else on the website is poorly maintained.
In the world of websites, a book is always judged by its cover so its important to have a great design! 🙂
Design and content are the most important things for a forum. The design attract visitors, so you gain more members. It's also express the kind of the forum. For example, if it is professional etc. I have visited many forums which don't have a good design. That's why I didn't register. 🙂
