That's happened to me too. There are like three members that don't post. So the rest of us who do post have to pick up the slack for that member. What I'd have to do is PM these members and encourage them to post more. I even had one person join and do nothing more than PM advertise to me.
I had one of those, He got on line 2 times, sent me 2 pm's to advertise his site--a promotion forum, btw, and has never been back. I didn't ban him, but did put him on pm restricted. The rules against pm advertising were right on the main portal with the other rules, and he was cautioned after the first pm not to do it anymore.

how long are PM restrictions for, if someone gets PM restricted?

I had that happen to me and all I wanted to do was send them a PM telling them to get off my site if all they were going to do was PM advertise...but I didn't...I needed the members -~-

I'm afraid I'm one of those that will sometimes do that... I'll see a forum that looks interesting, sign up, and then forget all about it.

At my forum I clean up my member list (which is small - lol!) now and then, deleteing members who haven't posted within a week or two after joining... if they want to participate at a later date it's nothign stopping them from re-joining.

It's really annoying when people do that. Sometimes they come on, I send them a welcome PM, and they don't even READ IT.

-lol- I never read welcome PM's as they are all the same and quite boring and i find annoying as they never say anything you don't know or can't easily find out for yourself.

Remember on some boards they can only see abit of the forum. so there gonna join just to see if the rest is good enough if not they wont post

Some might of lost the link because of their busy schedules. Others might of just wanted to post ONCE and then never come back (my forum gets this often @>@)

While others are just a puzzle since my forum is unlocked for everyone to view, guest or member. No e mail validation, and no need for confirms.

Maybe they just like to screw around on the game section, which I still don't get cause they can do it without even signing up. What a waste, since there's a hefty amount of regular posters.

I think some people genuinely forget that they've signed up. I know I've done that before.

Sometimes I join thinking that the forum would be cool but afterwards I realize things I hadn't before. It just kinda curves my interest I guess.

I am a person who quite often signs up and doesn't post. The reason i sometimes do it is i sign up to be able to read the forum if you make people have to sign up to read or if if there are sections hidden completely from guest view. Admin and email verfification sometimes put me off then i don't activate my account or when they do i don't want to post or i don't have time and sign up to post another day then forget or when i have time i don't want to.

I've never signed up and not posted, but if i did, then this makes the most sense to me..
