Forum Promotion
Reputable
We're currently accepting applications to all teams here on Forum Promotion, to meet current staffing needs, and have a pool of interested members for when vacancies arise. But, why work here at FP? There are tons of reasons I could list, but here are a few to mention. Whether you’re on the Review Team, or the Package Team, you have the valuable opportunity to interact with a lot of different sites. It’s inspiring to see other forums grow from nothing to have tens of thousands of posts. And just think; it could be your two cents on how to improve their site, or a thought-provoking topic that starts it all!
Secondly, what better way to “pay it forward”? All of the services offered here are free – well, they cost FP cash, but realistically, they are free. They help out new and established forums, blogs and websites alike, at a fraction of the cost of traditional freelance marketplaces.
Lastly, it doesn’t take much time. Yes, there is a lot of work to be done. But if everyone does their part on the team, and enough people volunteer to join, the work is well distributed. As long as you can come online and do at least a LITTLE bit of work each day, you’ll be golden. The Team Leaders understand very well that there is a life outside of forums, and they only expect what you can reasonably do. The number of members on teams reflects the workload, so at times of lots of work, more members are brought onboard to help!
But that's enough from me. Here's some responses from our current Team Members, Team Leaders and Admins on why they chose to give some time to Forum Promotion:
@PGen98, Administrator
I joined the team through Curiosity at first, I liked what I saw when I first joined FP and wanted to see if I could do it, if I could contribute. The second time was because I enjoyed my time with the PT, and wanted to give CT a try, I loved it, but I wound up having some personal issues that needed dealt with, so I stepped away. I came back once those were resolved for my third stint and...well...it sort of went from one position to another to another. Before joining FP I had 25+ years of forum experience, running and posting. True nerd here, lol, but once joining the team I learned a great deal, and I've made some amazing friends because of it. I've applied some of what I learned to other forums, taking a more macro approach to things than I used to. My FP journey was: First stint as PTM. Second stint as CTM. Third stint as CTM -> CTLA -> CTL -> Admin.
@MrDawn, Community Team Leader
I think for me it was pretty straightforward to decide to join the team. I wanted to give back to the community and help out. I really like this place and I just felt it would be nice to give something back. I started staffing back in 2014. I wanted to run my own community so I started a forum and wanted help promoting it. As a result I joined Forum Promotion. Ultimately I had to shut my forum down because it was not a success and I was unhappy with the results. So I started find other great communities and I would sometimes moderate for those owners. I have learned that you have to be tolerant, patient, and understanding of others' and their ideas. That team work is an essential part of it. Never work alone. When we listen to each other, that's when we can truly work as a team and I can happily say that's what the FP staff is, a team of it's own. Everyone works together. Everyone pitches in and that is rare to see on a forum; I've taken what I've learned on other forums and applied to other things many times. I started out on my own forum first and that was hardly a learning experience. So I started picking up staff jobs on other forums. I learned a great deal from some of the people on here from FP who are running their own forums and overall it has been good learning experience. I have learned that patience and understanding are key. I think we're all a work in progress when it comes to staffing and how to deal with people and other situations.
@AltairX, Editorial Team Leader
An admin contacted me to write articles for forum promotion, and I accepted for numerous reasons. Prior to FP, I have held various administrative and moderation staff positions over the years and whilst I have not been on the editorial team for long but have already learned much. For example, I have learned how to expand my knowledge by researching numerous webmaster topics, applying them to my already extended and future notes, and developing my personal growth by expanding my communication skills and adaptability. I believe acquiring knowledge is like turning a wheel, where each spoke represents a different area of knowledge or skill that you have or will have acquired through various positions or projects. As you turn the wheel, you can access and apply the knowledge and skills from one spoke to another, refining and improving your skills in each area. Thus, the knowledge and skills I have developed so far in this position will be accessible in the future and now.
@Ravenfreak, Package Team Leader Assistant
I enjoy helping others with their websites. I also enjoy posting on forums, so coming up with new content comes natural for me. I used to be part of the package team in the mid 10's here! I was also part of the package team on a website called Forum Hour, that was created by an ex-staff member here at Forum Promotion. I eventually made my way up to team leader, prior to the review and package team being merged and even after the two teams were merged I was still the team leader until the site died. Through the FP PT, I have learned that we must stick together no matter what struggles come along. A community can only be strong if all staff are on the same playing field, and they can only benefit their members if they are willing to learn and listen to other staff. Listening is the greatest skill when it comes to managing any project, and websites are no different than running a business. Find what is and isn't working, and then you'll be on your way to having a fun, successful community. I started on the Package team back in the mid 10's. Real life events got in the way, so I wasn't on the team for that long just a few months. I took a break from posting on Forum Promotion, but came back a few years later and was part of the review team for a bit. Eventually I took another break from Forum Promotion, but decided to log back into my account and start posting again. As I continue to post on forums and other sites, my writing skills are starting to improve.
If you haven’t applied yet, what is holding you back? Got questions before submitting an application? Feel free to reach out to me, or an Administrator and we'll be happy to help. We'd love the opportunity to work alongside you! We accept applications for all teams on a continuous basis. You can apply here.
