Because I wanted to create a place for people to hangout at.

And besides, it's not that much money it takes. Domain hosting once a year and hosting every 3 months. It's very little money a year

Because I love to be in charge, and as admin im the one in control, the downside is im also the one who gets sued.
Other than that, its because I need to prove something to people. Alot of people see me as worthless, because although im extremly smart, I dont try in school. That means im labeled as "stupid", not because of my smart level, but ratehr they KNOW im wasting my smart. Now, am I really wasting it? Nah, they just think computers are a waste. In my eyes im preparing myself for a career in web something, and they see my wasting my life. By showing them my forum stats I can show that im able to do something, and they can connect to the numbers betetr than they can connect to me explaining html or CSS...
Im not in it for the money, never was. I paid $160 for 2 years of hosting and I havnt spent another dime since. Will I put up paid ads at soem point? Probably, but not until its needed.
Oh, and a note about "decent" software...no. vB is worthless to me, id rather use phpBB anyday, and NOT because of the price, because of the ability and features of them. vB has alot of features, ill agree with that, I even go on to say its got TOO much worthless junk that youll never need. phpBB unstalls pretty bare, and its great because you only add what you want, and its fully open source so you can feel free to make adjustments and everything the way you want, and when the board crashes and you have to start over, you can kick yourself instead of blaming forum software that you paid for -😉-

My forum was originally intended as an escape from a previous forum where we could just cut loose and relax but it has since grown into something much larger than that. Now we have charity programs enabled and the main purpose of the forum is to create a wonderful experience for any members that decide to join. Honestly, I just want to make people happy and watch it grow and expand. =)
