Will discord destroy forums?

It may help actually, not many people know or understand forums but if discord introduces them we could see a wave of new forums owners and then it’s possible to see the differences in discord and xenforo and start moving away from discord forum to other platforms.
originally I didn't think about that, let's hope so 🙂

Discord destroyed itself with their woke ideology. Go into any Discord, and do one thing they don't like, they come out with pitchforks.

Discord is trash.

That’s the members or admins of that server, not Discord itself.

If you don’t like it I suggest you find new communities to join.

Discord is basically like having a chatbox on your forum. It is basically the exact same thing.

Some people will tell you that having a chatbox on your forum will hurt the activity on your forum. But if your forum is up and running good enough then having a chatbox won't affect it.

Nice point 😀
To some degree it is the same as a forum with a chat box.

Discord is not going to destroy forums but it is without question another form of social media that has replaced quite a number of forums. I can say this with some authority because forums I used to own now run on Discord.

I don't see it as an issue, Discord is better suited to those communities. Forums still have a place, it's just not as all encompassing as it used to be.

Most people will not even register on a forum because social media is more convenient for them. Yes, Discord is basically like the old days of IRC servers and stuff. I don't even enjoy much Discord servers or talk in them much.

Guilded has a better Forum structure than anything discord could come up with. Also, with guilded you're able to build your SEO, get vanity URLS for FREE, and you get everything Discord gives through nitro for FREE so I think the real competition would be guilded killing off forums since it's literally just a free hosting site essentially.

Coming from an age where forums was all the range no social media around, no facebook, twitter, youtube or services such as discord, forums have taken a little dip in how many users are constantly active in recent days but with content forums will not die over night and i believe forums will be around for a long time to come yet, even though a lot use social media its just a tool that forums owners can hopefully engage and drive extra people to their communities from their followings on social platforms.

there is still plenty of room i think for forums and forum owners with fantastic ideas, after all content is what drives the internet 🙂

I see Guilded praised a lot for the things it offers at no cost compared to Discord, but I always wonder how long they'll be able to keep offering that stuff for free. I feel like it's only a matter of time until those features start being charged for so that Guilded can continue, unless they've found a different way to generate enough income to cover costs.

On that note far more people use DIscord then Guilded, I mean I Have used it but what makes me using DIscord as all my 600 friends are on discord and they do not want to move LOL

I don't see discord, reddit or any other social media platforms being a direct competitor to forums. The forums as we are using now are different kinds of platforms. They will continue to survive along side social media and other platforms.
