Do you think it was well deserved after what Chris Rock said about Will Smith's wife?

I have mixed feelings. Personally I would have wanted to have it out with Rock but privately. Certainly not in front of the entire world.

Hollywood is a dying breed, they have to do something to keep people watching.

Look how Chris Rock leans into it before it happens as if expecting it to come. Yeah. Fake.

I think you're right. Some news sources are saying Will Smith & Kid Rock staged it.

I would of gotten verbal and told him to leave my wife out of things I don’t resort to getting physical until I’m touched first so yes & no.

Then again other sources say Will warned him prior weeks before and he kept making those jokes.

Making a joke about someone’s condition I strongly disagree with much more though.

It would make me mad but man I think we can laugh that slap off after all the memes to become of it. Smack cam anyone?

At first, I was like, what's all this about. Been on the news with mixed feelings, yes they both did the wrong. Rock should think before talking and Smith should think of another way of not smacking.

I think as @Katrina said above, this thing was staged.😱
When you have the money and you get board this is the crap you see.

A lot of new sources are saying it wasn't staged. CNN being one of them.

The Guardian says nothing about it being staged. I guess I change my opinion. It actually happened.
Rock made a joke about the hairstyle of Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith that referenced the movie GI Jane in which actress Demi Moore shaved her head. Pinkett Smith suffers from the hair loss condition, alopecia. Smith, who later won best actor for 'King Richard,' walked on stage and hit Chris Rock in what at first appeared to be a scripted joke. But the mood turned somber moments later when Smith, back in his seat, shouted back, 'Keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth' Will Smith appears to hit Chris Rock over the joke at Oscars ► https://www.theguardian.com/film/20...nch-chris-rock-wife-joke-gi-jane-video-oscars

You don't buy any of it? What about the public apology he made to Chris Rock on his Instagram?

He does admit that he was in the wrong to do it even in an emotional state. But he was not thinking and walking and slapping, Rock was just being a dosh and he's just not thinking at all, both in the wrong. Still, After a while, I do not blame Smith. HAs anyone seen or heard from Mr Rock stating about his wrongdoing by saying that joke?

Like I said in other posts who really knows if it was staged or not, it is what it is.🙄

I have to admit. I didn't know what to think when I first saw it in the news. I couldn't tell if they were for real or not because it's Hollywood and like you, I can't take Will Smith seriously either.

I think he deserved it. He crossed the line and said something he should never of have.

Its not how I personally would've reacted, but everyone reacts differently to situations and he shouldn't of made such an inappropriate comment.

The amount of people going against Smith on Facebook is insane I hate that platform, like assault is never the answer but that comment wasn’t needed.

Chris was more in the wrong you can’t go throwing shots at someone’s partner but they both were wrong.

AND ...EVERYONE. Their ratings and viewership have been dropping since the Biden Administration. They just launched their CNN+ subscription service, and they had to drop the price immediately after announcement.

Eeek.

I don’t think it was staged. What benefit would Will/Jada Smith and Chris Rock have in doing this? Sure, there’s publicity, but it’s just a lot of negativity. This has also shined a light on Jada’s affairs over the years, which I’m sure they wouldn’t voluntarily revisit.
