Windows 10 update stuck in Preparing for installation

Hello all,

When I tried to download Windows 10, it is stuck at "Preparing for Installation" and the progress bar is not moving even after a long time. Does anyone know any fixes for this?

Have you tried stopping the update, restarting, and then trying again (I haven't tried this specific update, but that's generally what I do for this type of thing)?

It took almost an entire day for me to upgrade a WIndows 7 to Windows 10
Seems they're having some weird problems.

Mine upgraded within an hour, but I also updated it the day it was released so I am not sure about it now. Maybe force turning it off might do something? If it's to far in the installation though it could crash the hard drive. :/

Did you backup your computer?

This why I don't like upgrading an existing operating system. I rather download the media and do a clean install. But Microsoft won't let you do that for the Windows 10 upgrade offer.
