Our new laptop is running on Windows 7. During the shutdown, there is a message that says do not unplug or turn the power off because it is updating. It takes sometime huh. But it’s all right since it is for the good of the OS. However, why have that procedure everytime we shut down the computer? It’s a hassle when you are in a hurry and the message says no to unplug or power down. Any opinion on this?

Why still on 7 and not 10?

All PC does that when there is an update you just let it be and let it do what it has to do and it will go off and done. If it keeps doing it over and over and nothing is downloaded from online then there is an error with the files

You can just go to the control panel and stop the automatic updates for your operating system when you are in a hurry. Maybe you can have the updates done when your laptop is idle.

I use windows 7 now and it is great, the chances of any upgrade to it is minimal, as any modern updates will not work and find it not capable due to the drivers for w7, in any event, i turned all updates off

why would you stop the update? it's always good to keep system updated

I have a pc with w7, i think it is great, i do not get updates on it wither, it serves to do what i need it to do without the crap of w10 interfering with it

Many users has this problem on Windows

If it is still stuck on the Installing Update page, then restart the computer and choose boot normally and check what happens. If you get into Windows and not all of the updates were installed, then you can install the updates one at a time and see if one of them is having a problem.

I see your problem and I used to get one in the past. However, I get over it. And I will show you how.
You can see that besides the shutdown button there is a small arrow, you can click to that and choose "shut down without update" or something like that (I am using windows 10 now :banghead:) Hope this helps.
