What are your opinions on Windows RT? Love it, or hate it?

I personally love it. I just bought a Surface RT and it's very easy to use and allows me to basically do anything I would want to do on a tablet. I don't feel the need to run Windows 7 applications on my Surface, so Windows RT suits me just fine.

Office 2013 will also help with school assignments too which is a great add-on.

I love the concept of having Windows on a tablets, i've used Windows 8 and its a decent OS with many great new feature, but I think its metro GUI was build for a touch screen devices, so I think Windows 8 on a tablet would work quite well, but I'm yet to try one and the surface is very expensive. The downside to this is that Windows RT is only available to OEM's so until some developers get there hands on it, we won't be seeing it for a little while on some other cheaper tablet devices.

I like the idea of Windows RT as well since you can run Windows RT on slower and cheaper computers which use mobile chips like the Nvidia Tegra 3.

I think Windows RT would be more popular when the Nvidia Tegra 4 comes out which is even faster than the Tegra 3.

Windows RT is a great tablet OS for cheaper tablets in the 200-300 US Dollar price range for someone who needs to use Microsoft Office 2013, and similar apps.

Windows 8 RT on a lower-end Intel processor would be good, but then we run into issues such as battery life which is why Microsoft has got bad battery life on the Surface Pro.

I have had mine for a few months and I am really happy with it. The battery life is good, I don't know what you are complaining about! The only thing I would like is an easier way of accessing core settings instead of having to go via the desktop..

I've put those administrative icons on my start menu thing, so I get to them instantly. It would be nice though if the core settings were more streamlined into the Modern UI =/

Can Windows RT run on ARM processors?
I might look for A cheap computer, I personaly prefer ARM as an CPU.

And how, Praytell, are you going to *get* Windows RT which is OEM software, meaning it is only distributed to vendors (Acer, Toshiba, etc.)

I own the Surface RT and it's an amazing tablet. Can do school work, programming work and even blog off it with ease. It's like a second computer, but more portable.

How much was it?

And where did you get it from.

Sounds Interesting.

$899 NZD it cost me, eight eh Touch Cover is is 3mm thin. I have a link in my signature to a hands on review of the device (it also has the AUD price too). 😉

There der guess it would be worth the money.
Androids are only $300 AUD for A high end one.

It starts at $559 AUD, and it's great. Could almost replace a laptop 😉

No, they won't. Sorry mate I'm not going to code on anything other than my MacBook Pro

I saw a picture of Apple's patent for a Macbook with a removable screen which is a touchscreen which becomes a tablet when remove from the Keyboard.

There still be used laptops, and laptops made by generic brands like Acer for people who don't like change, and tablets.

But, I think many people will just use tablets because they are generally cheaper since you can buy an okay android tablet for $100, and a better tablet like the Nexus 7, and iPad Mini for $199-300,

Buying a cheap wireless keyboard and mouse turns a tablet into a cheap laptop for under 20 dollars or less if you buy those cheap wireless keyboard from eBay sellers who are based out of China, and other Asian countries where the minimum wage, and cost of living are low in rural and factory towns.
