Why do most people hate it? I do not see a problem with it, I have it installed in a VM and runs smoothly. I have it installed on an old laptop because it came with Vista pre-installed. I think it is a great OS and I don't think it is a beta to Windows 7. What is your opinion on Vista? Do you still use it? Have you ever used it before?

I don't think people hate it, they just see it as old and prefer not to use it. Like for most people they would prefer a brand new car rather than an old beat up car, Windows Vista doesn't even work with most softwares coming out nowadays.

My grandpa actually just upgraded to Windows 8 from Vista, and he seems to like it better. Windows Vista is just old and "outdated" - I don't hate it but I certainly will not use it.

I like 7 more than Vista. It was known to be slow and 7 has more features. My favorite Windows version is probably 7.

Vista is disproportionately resource-intensive and slower than pretty much all older and newer operating systems. No one liked it when it was the latest, and people certainly don't see a point in it now. Its one selling point in the past was that it had exclusive DX10 support.

Windows Vista was just the premier version of Windows 7, but it was only popular for its new theme. Reliability, stability and multi-tasking was more preferred in Windows 7.

I don't use it, I was just asking! I use 8.1 because 10 is a pile of crap IMO.

I like Windows 10..........the issue is the fact that no one told the driver companies like Intel to update all their drivers, so now none of my display drivers work...at all. 😛

Yeah, when I first updated to Windows 10, my dual monitors didn't work too well with my 750 🙁

My father has Vista but I discouraged him from upgrading to Windows 10. I currently don't live near him so I'm afraid something won't work with the stuff I had bookmarked for him on his current OS. I rather be physically there if something goes wrong when he upgrades. lol

None of my all in ones monitor settings work. Brightness, input, etc. It's really irritating. XD

It takes a significant amount of time to develop stable drivers for a new operating system.

Vista was unfortunate. It was a somewhat positive advancement, but riddled with issues and bad decisions by Redmond. It was a necessary step towards what we have with Windows 10 today, however. I don't hate Windows Vista at all, but I'm perfectly fine with Windows 10 for now.

Only was hated at launch. As soon as drivers showed up and people got substantial hardware upgrades in computers the following year, Vista was completely fine

that and sp1 squashed some bugs

I think people hated Vista because it came installed on a lot of cheap laptop, and desktop computers which had slower single to dual-core CPUs, and only had 512MB to 1024MB/1GB of RAM which can make Vista slowdown. There were also people who may have installed Vista onto their older computers which were okay for XP, but did not have fast parts to run Vista at a fast speed.

I have an old Windows Vista HP laptop with 4GB of RAM, and a Dual-Core AMD 64bit CPU. Vista works pretty well on it, and I don't have reliability problems with Vista on my older Windows Vista laptop.

Vista always worked pretty well when I used it for browsing the web with Firefox, Chrome, and other browsers, and use it for other tasks like watching video, typing out document, and working on my websites.

One of our PCs has it. It's not as bad as people think can still operate it like the other Windows versions.
