I want to create art forum.
Witch one forum is better vBulletin or phpBB?

Well, if you have a spare £100 and want to attract more guests, vBulletin is for you. Seeing as your running an art forum which might struggle to attract those guests to join, i would reccomend phpBB to start with because it's free and great software and it wouldn't be good if you spent £100 for a forum that will struggle a bit in my opinion. I'm sorry if i sound unfriendly, just being honest through experience 🙂

I would go with phpBB at 1st and if it becomes successful or active then i would move to VB

I would say start straight away on vBulletin. By far the best software and will look much more professional to guests 🙂

But I'm just vB manic so you don't have to take my advice 😉

I recommend that you start with phpbb3 and then go once you got an active forum. One reason I say this is since I believe that VB has so many features that you might not need to start of with while phpbb3 doesn't have as many are is fine to start a new forum.

Also there is no need spending money on vb for a new forum that may not succeed.

phpBB 3 is a good start but it will be a pain later on when it comes time to upgrade to a paid software. If you later decide to upgrade to vBulletin you will have to reset all the member passwords and that may cause you some headaches.

I always start a serious forum with vB. If for some reason it doesn't succeed you can always move the software to a new domain. If you decide to go with vB I recommend to start off with the "owned" license ($180 Lifetime). The leased license ($100 every year) is much more expensive in the long run.
