But..it makes me wonder why the driver didn't stop..and why the passengers didn't attempt to tell the driver to stop.

He says both the driver and passengers were all taken back to Porirua police station for questioning.

Of course the cops are gonna question it. A friggin lady is running alongside a bus, and the drive isn't stopping.

Well, you see, in the longrun, if you do hit her, you could very well be charged. The police could say that since you knew she was running alongside, that it was hit-and-run (if you keep driving)
