Word Requirements?

Do you specify a specific amount of characters or words a new post or topic has on your forum or do you let the user decide.

It can have advantages, such as higher quality posts but can can create the issue of waffling, filler text or people not replying to things that only need a short reply

There's not really any specific word counts on my forum- just more than one character in any board. Not every post/thread needs to be lengthy and it's the user's discretion as to what they want to share/post, so I don't feel the need to have one on. It also has the potential to discourage members.
