I have created a lot of ecommerce sites by using wordpress with woocomerce and easy digital download plugins for my clients. I have also tried to run eCommerce sites myself but I was not very successful. Have you built ecommerce sites on wordpress?

I used to have an ecommerce site and i find this setup works well

Theme - Avada (Paid)
Woocommerce
Yoast (seo tool) / could also try AIOSEO
then to help speed site up a bit use a cache plugin to compress images, js and css theres a few good ones i hear Litespeed Cache does ok

website promotion is always the hardest part but also try adding a blog to your ecommerce website to fill with content related to what your selling with helpful tips, advice or news that visitors will come to few and enjoy, these blog/article posts generate the traffic people read then eventually sales may start picking up.

market the posts you make via website backlinks and social media (also hash tag in socials to help drive traffic)

Yes, its all i use! Cheapest route and if you know what you're doing, it can go far! If anyone needs help DMs are open.

It's all about social media marketing!

If you have a huge following on social sites, you can easily generate sales. Even when you do not have a lot of followers, you can easily run ads and generate sales. Managing wordpress powered ecommerce site is really easy.

I did build one using Woocommerce for a client I did a bit of work for a few years ago that ran a local store and wanted his products also available online for delivery and click & collect. It was quite a fun one to set up and if you want to customize it there is plenty of plugins available to expand it.
