I know that there is a phpBB and a MyBB bridge for Wordpress available. I am not sure which you prefer but I know that both of those are out there and free to use.
Thank you. I'll have a look at it.<br /><br />-- 28 Jul 2012, 14:46 --<br /><br />For some reason it gives me an error when I try to save the settings. Are you perfecttly sure that this is functional ?
I know you've got a bridge, but is it honestly necessary to have a bridge? I just inherited style components onto a phpbb theme and "integrated" it with my WP install 😛
Honestly speaking anything can work. It just depends on the style. I have seen it work with many forums including IPB, MYbb, PHPbb, vBulletin and even Xenforo.
All of them are possible. You can also add it to an actual website. Here is one which has a blog, forum and many other features: http://www.androidcentral.com/
The site that you linked to uses the vbulletin Publishing Suite so it has all the stuff (blog, forum, etc) built in and is not anything close to what the OP is wanting to do really, at least I don't think so (correct me if I'm wrong please!).
It is not dependant on the style at all. You can get a free theme for Wordpress and make it work for a forum and vice versa. What he is wanting (again, correct me if I'm wrong) is an easy way to share user registrations and posts between the forum (Vanilla I believe at this point) and the blog (Wordpress). This would need a bridge or some PHP/SQL code to share database tables between the 2. A bridge being the easier of the 2 options.
Sorry, I know this is pretty much solved but wanted to (hopefully) clarify what you were originally looking for for those members who may view this and wonder if it is possible to do it.
You can integrate MyBB using WordBB. It's not really supported anymore, but I got it to integrate the users and publishing of new posts/threads very easily.
