I would like to know from other WordPress users what plugins and widgets they use on their blog and why, also looking to know if there is any good stat plugins that display information, like total posts, total comments and visits etc.

I would recommend using "WP Stats"

One wordpress plugin I use is "Yet Another Related Posts Plugin"

It's function is to put a "related posts" at the bottom of your posts, so that after a person reads post 1 for example, there will be 5 other posts at the end of post 1 that will link to posts similar to post 1.

This will allow users to stay on your site longer and read more of your blog content.

Thanks not a fans of the first one and the SEO is pretty useless as you can do all what that plugin offers yourself if you know what your doing but thanks anyway.

Just be careful not to install plugins needlessly. One of my Wordpress sites got hacked due to an exploit in one of the plugins.

I am well aware of them and it is good to do your home work on which ones you want to check for any issues, I like to gage other peoples views and read up on the pluginv before I commit to installing them.
