I see a lot of young people here making forums/websites and trying to break into the wonderful world of the internet! I think this is awesome! I as well got into making websites at a very young age. I remember my mom sold Bennie Babies online and I made her a website in Geocities and Angelfire. I was hooked. That was very young, around 8 or 9 years old.

My first real website was a forum on Proboards WAY back in the day, on Halo. This was some-time in the early 2000's - (sweet jesus, Proboards has been around for a LONG time) I struggled so much to get just ONE member on it, but at my age that was the best feeling in the world, is to know that even though I don't have 500000 members on my website, I have 10 really active people.

From then on I gave my go at EVERYTHING. Graphics forums, Music forums, Movies forums, Game forums, you name it! I was really pushing the "sig designing" thing back then, Gamerenders was my stomping grounds (back when it didn't suck LOL, if anyone remembers GR)

But I tried EVERYTHING guys! And to see that the drive to create websites still exists with younger people today really makes me excited! Just remember, no matter how good or bad your website is doing, you are gaining VERY valuable experience in your experiences online. Never give up, don't let anyone talk down on you or your website. Do your best, and keep moving forward. This is one of those things, you can have a JOB from if you keep learning and keep getting better.

NEVER get discouraged.

As for me? I'm now 21 and almost done with a degree in Computer Programming, as well as a little web design schooling. All those years of making silly websites and writing tutorials about spiderman signatures..well they payed off. Just an example of what you can do if you keep doing what you love!

And just so you guys can laugh at me, here are some websites I did back in the day.

This is a video game review website I made in 2004....LOL, good ol tripod: http://vgreviewzz0.tripod.com/index.html

A halo 2 forum I ran, I accidently deleted basically all the posts, but nostalgia:

Here is a clan forum I made for Halo 2, and go zip zero nadda members:

A good chunk of them are no longer online. Hosted many on those "free hosts" which are no longer around or simply deleted my accounts. I'll scranggle through Google some more to see if I can find some old stuff.

So with that being said, I think this website is awesome. Nothing like this existed when I was trying to make silly forums on proboards and invisionfree, and I wish it did. If your a youngster who likes to make forums and websites, stick with it. You can only get better, you will LEARN A TON. Trust me. You will learn so much if you stick with it. It will only open that many doors to you in the future. You want to make a video game forum, and you end up having to learn a little "marketing" to get people to join it. So you keep reading up on this "marketing" thing and now you know a little about marketing. Everything builds on everything.

Never give up!

Much love
PEACE OUT

Great advice buddy. I think patience is the key - give it time and all the effort you have put in will pay off.

A heart-felt message, and one that I think a lot of the new admins should take not of. Determination and honesty can take your forum a long way.

Really a good article for a beginner like me. Patience ,dedication and hardwork, research is the key.
